My friends who own a parts shop in Santa Cruz were thinking of buying out a 12:01am showing of the new fast and the furious movie on the day it comes out, June 6th. They would have to sell out all the seats...which is 400...so we just wanted to see how many people would be interested in seeing it? I know a lot of the cars are ricers...but you know it would be fun to see a car movie with 400 car enthusiasts at midnight!

there are a bunch of car clubs doing the same thing. the 3g eclipse club started a rather large meet in pleasinton where they actually get to park their cars in front of the theatre.

Thanks for the info about other clubs...let me know any further info that you find out about. If we can't end up renting out the theater, I would be interested in going to a showing in the bay. I'm sure if we had the midnight showing there would be some fun had after the movie :)

I think some people are afraid of that. A lot of the F&F croud are ricers, their idea of after movie fun probably involves some form of illegal racing. Even if its majority of cool enthusiasts, something is bound to go down that is out of whack.
Oh, when Fast and the Furious came out, police were on high alert and had some major crackdowns on street racing. Even if you don't street race, some unwanted attention might be paid towards cars that look non-stock (ours). With or without illegal mods, that can make people uneasy.
Anyway, i plan to see 2F2F because it looks hillarious, and there are some nice cars in there (although rice to the max). But i'll probably wait till the heat dies down, wait at least a week or two.

I totally agree with you...I wasn't saying that there were street racing plans...just an opportunity to see everyones cars. To han g out...and to get to know other people in the area...I don't want anyone having problems with the law after the event! A bonus about being in Santa Cruz is that the police here are oblivious to the whole car scene...which is always a good thing.
Thanks for the heads up though...it's always appreciated!

really i thought with the first movie tension would be high n that the police would be out and on high alert for street racing. But i went to Milpitas after the movie opening night n it was actually pretty cool out there that night.(My old adolescent street racing days-dont hate) But i agree completely now that the street racing scene has just got way too dangerous n especially after the movie there will be lots of ignorant ricers messin around n messin it up for us.

I think that they have a cool idea...but Irving is a little far to drive for a movie. I know it would be a whole event...but it's still far. Maybe, for all those who are interested, we could plan something like that in the Bay Area. Who knows...just throwing the idea out there.
