edit electric i spelled it wrong

ive heard a bit and seen some, a s12 guy on my forum removed everything power steering wise and removed the seals so he can turn the wheel better without having the old seals slow hm down and then did this

I have installed electrical steering in my S12. I used a s13 power steering rack and made it manual. I opened it and removed all the valves and things that could slow it down, and filled it with grease. Then I took out the steering collumn and installed a electrical engine on it.
It works good. I can turn the steering wheel with one finger when standing still on the ground, without driving. Even with the engine turned off :)
And I can adjust the steering force by turning a knob.
PICS::

could u ask the guy if the motor adds any resistance. for instance, would it slow down the steering if u were to let go of the wheel to self correct?

Title is fixed for you.

I'm sure "Arro" will bitch on Club-S12 that by correcting the thread title for you, I have somehow disrespected all S12's. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

thats what im trying to figure out! i feel like some companys like bmw etc. i heard some of them are adjustable, like how much force it remove while you steer

i think he said he used a stock unit and part of the harness from some other car, after work im going to ebay around and google etc. to find this out, im so ready to remove my p steer pump and all those lines and shit

not only is this "lightweight" but no fluid to deal with, and no power steerig pressure to have to deal with, just pure electric power

hasanyone ever tried removing all the seals and adding grease WITHOUT the electric rack part? how does that feel?

The SW20 MR2 has electric power steering as well. The guys who do k-series swaps uses the mr2 power steering pump so they can have more clearance.
