im buying them cuz im getting them cheap + weight savings im racing on track. Plus the popups are old rusted and squeekey, anoying and get stuck urgh.

PIAA-P3000 seems to be the deal for you two huh lol.

What do you plan for HIDs though.

How did you mount them. I have yet to hold mine... I will have them hopefully in 4 hours in my hands haha :D

Pics of how the lights/etc.. attach.. what about wiring?

Raybrig makes them w/ integrated h.i.d's and the raybrig normal ones are "hella" bright too.

good luck getting quality optics stashed under those shitty ass fiberglass lids

hella 50mm is probably your only choice, and a very..... VERY expensive one. make you reconsider whether or not your car is worth this fancy lighting setup

name? model? anything other than 50mm hella.

I already have 20k in my car i dont give a fuck. Im not a park poser high schooler.

FYI the motor assemblies themselves are like what 15-20lbs? dammn...

I think i found the initial pic's thing.. it has to be this.. the guy said in his thread he paid '50 bux for some hella driving lights'

this is the only thing remotely close:

SICK and it can be converted to HIDs:

Ride it like you stole it!: R1200GS Adventure Hella FF75 HID Conversion (http://davedragon.rilysi.com/2007/05/r1200gs-adventure-hella-ff75-hid.html)

This is the HID kit they used

HID Xenon A Conversion Kit WWW.CQLIGHT.CA (http://www.cqlight.ca/product_info.php?cPath=32_45&products_id=68)

Saves 40w of power.... as the stock ones take 55w x2, these HIDs take 35w x2 sickness.

Shit son perfect opportunity to go HID, i can't wait to ride it like it's hot hahaha just kidding.

Alright so i got the plastic moulds and covers... they are a bit used but hey it was cheap.

I ordered the HID balasts from that site i posted with 5k H7 bulbs.... and I want to order the hella ff75 lights but... the site i found with a descent price (80CAD) is lazy and seems to not have an online buy feature.. they are situated in BC and im just waiting for their email response...

I have yet to bother to try to instaal anyhing as i still dont have the lights/etc... so if people dont mind could you post pictures with hood open to show how you installed them just so i have a heads up.

I'll have to do this one weekend from morning o afternoon so that i hae the car drivable by monday for work...

I'm gonna guess it's these. It's gonna cost about 2 grand for HID low and high beams. Bad thing is you will probably still have shitty lighting because they are sunk in so far.

would it be illegal to do this?

not really to familiar with the laws. i heard that your lights have to be a certain height off the ground.

is this your car...?

if so, steer clear from the fixed style.
you can't pull it off on stock body.

you really should read and research, or better yet not touch things before shelling out your money for inferior parts.

but hey, people do what they want to do.. and often times it involves buying parts that are not up-to-par for the job. like using halogen driving lights and using an illegal hid kit

funny thing is, you actually think that a few pounds of metal for your motorized bucket assemblies will make a difference - or that removing 40 watts of current draw (negligable) will make a damn worth of a difference in your 240sx.

yep, every little bit counts... i know. too bad things like this dont matter.

my friend has a set of the cheap plastic ones, they dont fit that great at all and his light output is complete shit.

might wanna look into getting some fog lamps.

The red one you dont like is rocking a full supermade kit, and is pure sex.. NICE..
I wanted to buy a set of those pop up deletes but read horror stories about their light out put.. ended up retro fitting..

The light output is amazing to say the least, dont think id EVER go back to sealed beams.. I can actually see the road and the cut off is insane...

• New Page Template (http://www.rallylights.com/Hella_50mm_Modules.aspx) <<hella 50mm modules.
If I were you, Id look into these, not sure if this is what ixfxi was referring too when he said 50mm's..
If you want to actually see the road you need a projector/cut off and it really is the only way to go HID..

there is also a Micro DE fog light, maybe those will fit better? I remember reading about a smaller one with a projector in it, cant seem to find it though..
Hella Micro DE Fog and Xenon HID Driving Lamps (http://www.rallylights.com/Hella_Micro_DE.aspx)

That website is your friend.. look for something quality that can be considered an upgrade.. if you just want to save "weight" then stick to
those rectangles and GL seeing the road at night..

heh thanks for the advices but honestly i want to lose the heavy squeeky pieces of metal that go up and down :P

I've shred down about 70lbs off the front of the car (mwahhaa), and I still have the hood, fenders and bumper o replace which are still stock, heavy and even bondo'd (ew) :)

Losing weight is AWESOME :D

ixfi i dont give a fuck your input is useless stick to making stuff for daily drivers on clearcorners.com This is my track car and it owns you. I have a stripped interior I'm sure that pisses you off too.

Nothing like sacrificing safety and quality, for the sake of saving a few negligible pounds.

:duh:

xs240
06-27-2009, 08:57 AM
20lbs is not f'en negligable... getting a racing battery and/or moving that battery vs the stock 40lbs battery is not negligable, replacing the stock front bar with a custom bar tube to save weigh is not negligable, moving stuff back to the car is not negligable, corner weighting a car is no negligable. It's all negligable for hard parkers on zilvia not for a track car.

So face palm on you guys.

Every bit made a difference to the car, I f'en hate driving stock heavy 240sx... slow boats.

Whatever floats your boat, if you dont like the idea, dont post, if you can contribute or help go ahead. Pretty useless to diss somebody as opposed to help somebody achieve what he's doing.

I don't like sretching tires or painting my car with sparkles and flakes or even taping it with vynl, but i dont go to those guys' threads and tell them they're wrong just because so many people like it even if i think is stupid, to each his own.

ThatGuy
06-27-2009, 09:03 AM
Moving/replacing your battery is not a safety concern.

Replacing the stock bash bar with a custom made one, provided it is built strong enough, is not a safety concern.

Corner weighting a car is not a safety concern.

Trying to use fog lights, illegal HID kits, or other BS lighting on your vehicle is a safety concern.

See, I can play your little game too.

Yep, you're the coolest because your the ONLY one on Zilvia to ever build a track car. Why even ask for advice, since you are obviously a track god and know better anyway?

xs240
06-27-2009, 09:14 AM
oh im sorry thatguy you are just so awesome because ur a mod and can contribute greatly by laughing off someone's thread.

No one's playing a game you just came in my thread to diss the work. Not exactly contributing other than opening your mouth and slandering.

It maters to me otherwise i wouldnt make a thread about it.

I'm already aware i won get super great lighting with it vs stock or custom retrofitted projectors with proper cut off. I dont give a shit, its not so much a daily looker, but i still want lights as opposed to fiberglass/carbon fake lights covers.

Fuck it, no point in posting when even mods are acting it up, what to expect from regular users. Go ahead close the thread, I wont post no pictures of the process. Now go ahead and make a stupid post about boohoo no on cares you're so awesome why are u posting.

ThatGuy
06-27-2009, 09:26 AM
Dissing your work? Slandering? Acting up?

I made a comment about sacrificing safety for quality, which is my opinion.
You came back with your argument, and I then countered your argument by reinforcing my point.

Now, it just seems your argument really isn't that strong, since you got upset and just quit.

I didn't come in here as a Mod. If I did, I probably would've just locked this, since SuperMade and various other headlight swaps have been discussed in numerous other threads. I came in here as an enthusiast, and stated my opinion.

If you can't handle opinions, which it seems you can't, don't post your ideals and thoughts on the internet for others to critique.

ClearCorners.Com [ hella ] (http://clearcorners.com/products/hella/)

"what is a hella 50mm??!?!?!?!?!!?"

stupid fucking douchebags. I cant believe you guys cant go to GOOGLE and type "hella 50mm" ... the second fucking link is my website, for chrissake.. not only do things need to be spoon fed, but you need your balls SEWED on otherwise you'de lose them.

get this, you buy REAL headlights (not driving lights or fucking FOG lights) and install them into that SHIT fiberglass fake-carbon bucket you've bought. there, now you have a fully functional headlight.. as long as you dont waste your time and money on bullshit HID kits or shitty optics.

i swear some of you are so fucking clueless about things like lighting, that you dont understand the value of good advice when it hits you over the head.

I seriously start to wonder why I, or anyone else (mods) waste their time helping people that are more concerned in doing things WRONG than doing things RIGHT.

ps: my car is more stripped than probably every car on this forum. it'll be a real challenge finding someone whos been more meticulous about their build than i have. this is not for bragging sake, but since you asked i'm telling you.

Wow, such anger and hate. I just want to be sure that I am on the right page here. So the OP is talking about getting the Supermade housings and running some sort of projectors in place of the factory lights on a track only car? Or is this car supposed to pull double duty as DD and track attack / weekend warrior?

On the weight savings bit, sure less weight means less power necessary to get up to speed and greater stopping ability, but won't you sacrifice grip to some extent?
