i searched alot before asking here, so please don't just tell me to search.
i need to replace the clutch on my 89 na/ka, and don't know which way to go.
the car has minor bolt ons, and no power adder. also the car will be street driven and used as a drift car alot.
my question is.... should i go with an oem replacement, or something "better"?
also, is there a negative side to getting a lighter flywheel?
i saw some other people asked about the e-bay stuff.... xtd, xtr, f1, etc...
does anyone have any experience with them?
at this point i'm leaning towards an exedy oem replacement and a xtd flywheel, but i'm open to some ideas.
thanks.......

we have installed a clutch and flywheel from F1, one stage 2 and one stage 3. Good quality. the stage 3 in currently in a S14 that is being driven on the street and used for drifting and the stage 2 is on a KA-T taht we we are installing in my friend's S13. The lighter flywheel is the always a plus, looks and feels the same as the Exedy. I personally have the XTD, that I have yet to install on my SR-S13. Clutch quality is very much comparable with the high end stuff. The S14's is holding up pretty good and the clutch action is not that hard but for a daily I would suggest a stage2. oh yeah the S14's owner is a nissan tech. He pointed us to F1.

If your going to use your car for drifting better to go with at least a stage two, full faced organic or otherwise will get torn up from all the heat transfer sooner or later. Carbon Kevlar is where it's at.

I have an exedy oem replacement with a light flywheel in my s13 kade. Iam a clutch kicking fool, and its held like a champ and is still going strong. I have a few minor mods, pulley, cat back, no clutch fan, short shifter. But I would highly reccomend exedy. I plan to upgrade to the F1 6puck steup soon though.

thanks for the replies. there's way too many choices. i don't want to seem cheap, but this is a low dollar drift car with very little power. lol. i just don't lnow if it needs a $400 flywheel if i can get away with an f1 or xtd for under $200. i do however value reliability, so i will take quality into consideration.
i found the exedy oem for $110 shipped. seemed pretty good to me. what i don't want to do is have my flywheel resurfaced. i'd rather spend the money on an aftermarket one.

is that a direct fit? or does the flywheel need to be drilled to fit the ka?

i have a Exedy stage 2 and a Fidanza flywheel in my n/a KA. its been beat on by 3 people and is going blah on me. but i believe i have an XTR from eBay in my room... its a stage 2 if i remember right. there really cheap and iv heard good things from a few people so i just kinda went with it. if the eBay 1 fails at least you only wasted 140$:) lol somebody said something about u needing to probably go bigger eventually. its not a bad idea. i got the stage 2 cuz it supports a little more horse then OEM. so it should be good... i think
