Ok i'll weed out the bs with a check list.

Did I search for similar problems (yes, all seemed to be fuel related)
Cams on the proper sides ie exhaust/intake (yes)
Cams timed to tdc with #1 piston on intake stroke (yes)
Distributor timed @ 20 BTDC (yes)
Oil in motor (yes)
Fuel pump and fuel equipment operational (yes)
Starter works (yes)
Ka24de (yes)
OBDI (yes, barely)

Here's the problem, i've driven this car all day monday. First start-up was Sunday morning, no signs of error. So...Tuesday I decided to go get some cigs, started the car and let it idle while I searched for a song on my ipod. I then backed up out the drive way (no hesitations or stutters) and proceeded to go down the street. I then stopped at the stop sign and lit a cig, I then made a right turn and the car just shut off after 5-10 feet of acceleration......what the hell could have just happened?

Today I tried to start it, and it farted smoke from the exhaust manifold?! It's like it starts then dies without a full rotation. Could I have busted a ring?!

As of now it just turns, on the first initial try it'll spark like half a rotation and then just turns again...kind of like when you start it in gear and let go of the clutch then it stalls while still trying to start it. But, it doesn't move.

Someone help me, i'm desperate and anxious...i've been off the road for over five months...

Thanks in advance.

did you check compression?

Borrow one.

ok so if i lost compression then i more than likely lost a ring right?

not neccesarily. could be hg, valve seats, valves, rings, timing.

not neccesarily. could be hg, valve seats, valves, rings, timing.

And on that note:

Rings: Shit.....I really hope not :(

Valves: I think they're fine, I don't/didn't hear any piston smackage.

Seals: No smoke

Timing: Unless it jumped, it's exactly like the fsm or jwt spec.

Seats: Idk, i'll probably jump into the motor once I compression test it.

HG: Doubt it, well...the motor hasn't made a milkshake yet.

Thanks guys for helping...i'll keep this updated, i'll be doing a few things to see about the car, this Sunday morning.

Alright, today i've purchased a compression tester. I removed all plugs, and opened the throttle body's butterfly fully, just as the manual suggested.

Here's what I got:

Cyl 1: 125
Cyl 2: 0
Cyl 3: 0
Cyl 4: 105

Before I tested cylinder 4, I noticed the spark plug was severely oil fouled...like saturated. And every time that I re-tried the cylinders, it either read 0 or bounced to 30.

So...the possibility of my head gasket being gone, is VERY possible right about now. I'll check the compression Sunday again...just to be sure, then I will go from there.

Opinions about today's dilemma would be appreciated, I would love some insight and suggestions. Thanks.

I found this while searching on how to PROPERLY test compression....

Engine Compression Testing (http://www.aa1car.com/library/compression.htm)

After reading this...it seems as if it's either valves or rings, there's a procedure on how to check to see if its either or. I'll be doing this Sunday definitely.

It states:

IS IT THE RINGS OR THE VALVES?
If compression is low in one or more cylinders, you can isolate the problem to the valves or rings by squirting a little 30 weight motor oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and repeating the compression test. The oil temporarily seals the rings.
If the compression readings are higher the second time around, it means the rings and/or cylinder is worn. No change in the compression readings would tell you the cylinder has a bad valve.

Alrighty, I think i've found the problem....although there may be more to it.
