It seems like I can't redline in 2nd, or can't seemlingly approach full engine load in all subsiquent gears. Gets annoying on the freeway to have fuel cut in fifth, or be passing in 4th and hit fuel cut. However, if I clutch in, its fine after 3200 RPM. Searched and couldn't find anything.

Throwing codes for VSS, EGR.

Thanks!

What engine do you have?
it would be helpful to list your car's setup

KA-E. 5-speed obviously.

KA-E. 5-speed obviously.

Excuse me but how is that "obvious"

I would check your spark plug wires, ignition grounds to start.

Also check your air filter

Then if am AAmco will let you borrow their vacuum leak tester (basically a smoke machine that is highly mobile -
check the basics firsty mobile and has a line that you can T into your vacuum line

Have you checked Ignition timing with a gun?

Also if you are going to keep your KA I would invest in a Apexi Multi-Checker this would help immensely in diagnosing

That's how it's obvious.......

my air filter, secondary insulation, and grounds are all good
i know i have vac leaks, but that wouldn't cause the problem.
timing is advanced, dont know how much.
i cant afford an apex'i, anything.
mike, what more do you need to know?
89 coupe. 5 speed. KA-E. i have a lot more than 4 tires and wheels. hud equipped coupe with shitty cluster that doesnt light up or display speed. gas guage doesnt work. welded diff. non-abs. uhhhh?

but no matter what, its always fine directly after 3200 rpm

its because single slammers suck

haha i hate my ka. worst swap decision ever

what makes you think vaccuum leaks won't cause that?
a small leak can make a motor run like shit. fix the leaks and see where you're at.

but foreal i get the same shit... if i floor too much my whole car wont accel till i put it in nutral and the rpms drop it will do it in 4th gear at like 4500 rpms its gay. it does it in second around 5900

Orly? Yarly.

because vac leaks would be most effective at low rpms not higher rpms.
also, it is clearly ECU done because it regains power at EXACTLY 3200 rpm.

What codes is it throwing then?
it will still be worth your time to fix the leaks btw

wow you don't want to listen to anything do you?

steve shadows is basically the nissan engine master and you're just disregarding his assistance. you're a real smuck for that.

steve def knows more than me but, i'd say check fuel mixture components.....such as TPS and MAF

and why the hell are you advancing your timing on a stock engine...?

spark plugs

This just in folks, having a clutch makes it obvious you have a single slammer!

Clark, I'm not terribly smart, but I know enough to know that vacuum leaks cause more problems down low than they do up high. Idle is the most sensitive of mixtures, and cause less damage up from there. Also, vac leaks aren't ECU controlled, spark and fuel are.
TPS and MAF both seem fine. Timing came that way and and haven't cared/had time/ steady enough access to a timing gun.

Codunc, as stated in first post, codes for EGR and VSS are rearing their ugly heads on my scantool.

Aziankingz, spark plugs are near new and look fine.

Razi, thanks for wasting bandwith and making yourself seem stupid. Having a clutch, and five speeds, means I obviously have a 5-speed.
My profile says I have an 89, so thats a little more obvious, but meh, that was my fault for not stating engine.

Wow. Interesting reading here. I think you need to listen to these guys dude. I had an 89 Euro model (CA18DET) and vaccuum put the smash on my program. Depending on where the vaccuum leak is, it can cause a variety of problems. Just food for though....................

i love how people give advice and HE OBVIOUSLY knows what he is talking about and you don't lol.......seriously tho, 5 speed s13 could be KA-E, DE, RB, SR, CA since you didn't say anything like stock or non modded, etc.......on this forum with 64 posts you should know that

work on fixing whatever reason those codes come up for EGR and VSS, if you think those reasons aren't why this happens, PLEASE explain why you know for sure they don't, not a "because I know these things" type of answer
