1991 Nissan 240SX SE Fastback 2D (http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1229903834.html)
looking into buying it and taking the engine out. what could i get for the shell provided there's no frame damage?

That probably depends on how bad the damage is to the front.

Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition.
Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional.
Tires may need to be replaced.
There may be some repairable rust damage.
that thing would take way more than 215 dollars of work to get up to the above standard, the hood is buckled, who knows how else that unibody is tweeked.
if it isnt salvage title and the car is still straight i'd offer a grand? a chicago 240 must have tons of rust hiding all over it. that guy is on crack to want 1400

i don't know if you didn't catch the part that it has an engine in it. i would be removig said engine and using it, then selling the aforementioned rust-ridden shell for (hopefully) profit.
i would fix it if i could find parts cheap, but probably not.
