Hey, im fairly new to the Nissan scene, but Ive been searching a little on the spec-r 6sp and didn't find much. I want to change my gear oil and don't know what to go with. It has about 60k on it and grinds into 2nd gear. I was wondering if I should use a synchromesh, standard or synthetic oil, and so on.
Sorry if this is a "use the search button" post. I couldn't find information on it.
Thanks

The S15 6speed is the same as all other Nissan trannies... search 'tranny oil' or similar to see what people think. I'm a fan of Neo synthetic, but have used the cheap Valvoline stuff as well - it's a little better. Redline is generally not seen as a good choice for these trannies. Take a look around, we have tons of fairly recent info available.

Be sure the trans oil doesn't attack yellow metals... Get the oil Flip has recommended, I run it in my Z32 trans.

No, it's just a BA oil to use in the trans... Many people are running it without problems..

Amsoil is what I am running in my 6sp trans and love it! I am also a dealer and can give you a good price on some!

Any GL-4 oil will not eat synchros...STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM GL-5 oils...
