What is the best brake fluid for 240sx?
- Dot 3 or Dot 4? Does it matter?

Hi, I was wondering if you guys can help me out here... as of right now I is doing a brake system upgraded to j30 or 300zx calipers 30mm. Before I do anything I was wondering what the best brake fluid as of right is now.

I heard of ATE BLUE RACING BRAKE FLUID IS REALLY GOOD, So is Motul..

I was wondering which one is better compare to these two and other company I don’t mind using them as long as they are super good!!! :)

ATE Blue Racing Brake Fluid?
Motul Brake Fluid?
Pre-stone Syntec?
STP ?
Valvoline Syntec?
Autozone, Kragen Crap?

Hmm...seem like motul RBF600 is the best one of the price?
The cheapest I found is $15+tax. Picked up...

How many quarts do I need?
I was told I only need one, but some says two.

went with ATE Super Blue, the blue dye made it easier to bleed the entire system when i swapped out the calipers and master cyclinder.

I use ate type 200. Didn't fade it or boil it on track. I do 200km/hr instant stops for fun from time o time when I'm bored too lol... it works jus fine. I use wilwood 6 pot front and 4 pot rears though... shouldnt mater, as a fluid though its excellent. If you're boiling or fading or losing brakes maybe you should check on your rotor and pad choices.

I haven tried the blue myself, however as most will report its good to know when uve bled one over the other.

i used motul before but not worth the price imho, plus to me (it was maybe in my mind) it felt weird modulating, probably was my pads more than anything.

If you want the 'best' castrol srf and endless brakefluid but they cost $$$

I went to the dealer today, Its freaken Expensive its like $14.28 per bottle regular basic stp is only $1.29 same size as Motul. My friend runs ATE BLUE RACING Brake fluid it works great and he got his for dirty cheap. And 4 times bigger for $10 buck.

All dot3 brake fluid is the same shit, some of it just comes in a shiner wrapper. Dot 4 or 'blue fluid' Can be used but must be changed out more often and generally works better with a more aggressive brake setup. Just go buy the stp or prestone it's all the same.

who cares if it's expensive you'll only use like one large bottle max and how often do you change your fluid once? twice a year? If so then you'll want the increase wet boiling point as moisture gets into the system.

If you track often then you'll change more often...but the increased price of better fluid is worth it because of the high dry boiling point.

trust me the last thing you want is to have a soft pedal heading into a corner at the end of fourth gear.

i use motul rbf 600
Same here.
Unlike every other fluid I've tried, I've never managed to boil the RBF600.

Never tried Endless or ATE, though.

untill youve got stainless lines on all corners i wouldnt go above dot 4 standard brake fluid.

do stainless lines and rebuild your calipers then run napa dot 5+ fluid. cheap and good quality.

Yep, for a car that sees little/no track time the Valvoline stuff is great.

I'm not a fan of Ate Super Blue - it dyes everything blue - reservoir, lines etc. You'll find that even going with gold fluid later, it'll turn blue in a short order. Looks almost like it's been boiled/burned - so it's hard to tell what's going on with your brake fluid with a quick glance at the track.

Yep, for a car that sees little/no track time the Valvoline stuff is great.

I've been using the valvoline synthetic brake fluid with success for close to 5 years now, success as being never having the fluid boil and loose my brakes while on track. I get about 8-12 track days per year and have either ran on hoosiers or RA-1's, typically been in the 250whp range. I have a few other friends that I normally track with (STI and EVO owners) and have good success with the valvoline too.

I just typically flush the fluids twice if not more per year.

I will say that Valvoline did change the name/branding of their brake fluid earlier this year and I noticed that their wet/dry boiling points dropped some, so I'm not sure how the new stuff will hold up on track if they actually did change the fluid.

There are articles comparing break fluid ALL day... Why not use the internet.... RBF660 not RBF600, has the highest WET point, which is more important... Dry in general is very close and wouldn't matter....
