Hey guys, I just installed an Airbox on my S13, and I noticed the guy who had the car before me cut a rubber line from behind the Mafs that is supposed to connect to the side of the airbox and corked it. Before you get too confused, here are pics.

This is right behind the mafs. The rubber piping part.

This is the side of the airbox that looks like it would connect to that hose.
My question is, do I need to have this connected? It seems like all it does is give bypassed air that isn't regulated through the Mafs.
And what would I do if I didn't need to have it connected. Should I plug up the hole on the Airbox, or just leave it open?
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm still a pretty big noob on these things
