heres the story:
95 auto s14, salvage title. probable broken timing chain. no back up vehicle, no nest egg. 2 jobs. bad credit.
was getting ready to go to lunch today, and started the car. started fine, then it started banging real hard, misfiring and what have you. i dont think i threw a rod or bearing, there wasnt any smoke. so im assuming its timing realated.
i do have a timing chain that came w/ a timing kit i bought when i first got the car because of a broken timing chain guide. in retrospect i know i shouldve replaced the chain when i had it apart the first time. dust in the wind. i really dont want to tear everthing down again to put in a timing chain, the timing is probably off, and its such a draining task.
if it came down to it, it wouldnt bother me to get rid of it, and buy a fucking escort. i have had more problems w/ this damn car than anything in my life. my question is: given the circumstances, A. would i get more money out of it by selling as a whole, or parting it out? or B. just fixing it.
transportation is an issue i dont want to spend a week tearing it apart only to find out that its fubar'd, and not within my means (i.e., financially, or mechanically)
any and all help is appreciated. p.s. anybody wanna buy a car? or parts?lol
