Dont know anyone who is using them on a 240SX. But if I were to get a spring/shock combo I would get the GC Coilovers since they are made by Eibach and you can specify what spring rate you want when you order them. Thats a huge bonus. Might want to consider a less exspinsive set of coilovers like the Apexi WS coilovers though. Since the GC Coilovers are like $350-$400 then you still need shox.

how good r lowering springs/.. if i just get my car lower'd 1.2 inches or so?.. do you recomend this? it would sure be a LOT cheaper Also, who makes good value sway bars and strut tower braces? thanks!

I have suspension techniques antisway bars, and I LOVE them.. they made a huge difference in the way the car handles... I bought them a long time ago, though, and it seems that whiteline might be the way to go now...

I've used GC's on other cars and have only the highest praise for the product. BUT, keep in mind that the springs you get are linear (i.e., not progressive). This means that to get a firm ride in hard corners, you will get a firm ride in ALL corners. Ditto soft, soft. Good side is that it gives you a range of adjustment for vehicle height (depending on the length of the spring - often GCs on a regular stroke damper cause a loss of travel that results in a bouncy ride when too low).

As for just springs, it seems like about 70% of 240 users chose Eibach Pro Kits. For about $200 this progressive spring lowers your car just over an inch (?) and offers comfort and performance.

*edit* just realized you were talking about the coilovers and not the collars/springs. Don't know about these. Sorry for the waste of space *edit*

naw it's cool, i am wondering about just the progressive lowering springs. It is the cheaper way to go, and i don't want to spend a LOT on just shocks etc, because i need money for strut tower brace and sway bars,, exhuast, and intake

AJ - when it comes to spending money on suspension stuff, the known rule is if you are going to spend money ANYWHERE - spend it on shocks/struts! Go to an autocross and check out the fast running "stock" class (which allows only replacement of shocks). Often, those guys with their high dollar adjustable shocks on stock springs will take down the Street Touring class (which allows power mods + full coilovers, etc.). A good set of dampers (like Koni Yellows, AGXs (s13 only), GABs, or HTSs) on stock springs will out perform cheap shocks + springs + bars + braces. When added to HQ progressive springs, the combo gives you the look and the feel. Personally, my order of upgrades is: 1) front STB, 2) GABs & ProKits, 3) front T/C rods, 4) sway bars... we'll see what we have then.

As for the rest of the stuff, I'd talk to Don at PDM Racing. I've heard only good about the WhiteLine adjustable sways and his FSTB was about $50 shipped and is a perfectly functional replica of a much more expensive brace.

I use the PDM brace. It doesn't take much to make a functioning brace, so I couldn't see dropping $150 on a JDM one. It's Al, its shiny, it works, and it was cheap!

I'd get dampers before springs, but if you are going to do both, I would save my money and do them at the same time since it is a PITA to take apart the suspension twice (especially if you don't have lowering springs and need to use a compressor). Check the Group Buys section for one on s14 Koni Yellows for $500. This is a good value as the dampers are HQ, adjustable, and rebuildable. No AGXs for us and GABs and HTSs are JDM units that require importing (=$$). ProKits can be had for about $200 all over the place. Then for $700 you will have a suspension that would make your car handle like you never imagined. Either way, save your money for Konis or better - for the s14, I've yet to hear of a lower priced option worth upgrading to.
