*Crash pics at bottom* :(
Well. Its done. Its a sad day, truly a sad day. My black S14 that has been 4.5 years in the building is totalled. Most of you should know the car, but only few of you will understand the hours, money, and sweat I have in this car as well as my devoted CF team and close friends. This car has been a “home-built-hero” since day one. A true street driven drift car. Im fucking devastated. I didnt cut a single corner when building this car, from my point of view. I built it EXACTLY the way i wanted it. From dead scratch, as a bone stock Automatic Zenki purchased from the original owner in Feb 05. Here is what it once was:

We havent gone through everything yet, but so far it looks like everything is transferrable to a new S14 chassis except: toe arm (pbm), exhaust, sideskirt, and front fender.
You guys have no idea how bad this hurts, this has been my baby, my every single paycheck for 5 years almost. I had near 21k in this car. And daily drove it for 3 years, track drifted for 4 years, and loved it for 5. :( Fucking sad man.

thats a shame. Usually they can be fixed..even when people say they are totaled...but your car is a perfect example of one that cannot be resurrected. I hope everyone was ok.
look on the bright side, most of your investment parts wise (the cage aside) can be salvaged, and a decent amount of the car can be parted out and the money can be put toward a new chassis.
my condolences.
edit: imagine what it would've been like if that door bar HADN'T been there..... cages really help the rigidity of a car, but saving lives is key.

I normally don't post in threads like this, but dude, I'm hecka sorry for you. Your car was one of the koukis that inspired me to go with white wheels.
BlackZenkiS14
06-16-2009, 12:38 AM
Close. I hit a giant chunk of cement, namely a drainage tube. But i wasnt drifting. I came through a corner a bit faster than i should have, but definately was not initiating any kind of drift on a public road. We had alot of rain earlier today, so i may have hit a water spot on the road or debris or something to cause me to lose control. Im a good driver man, i know thats hard to say now, but really, im not a 16yo idiot.

thank god that was not the drivers side. Sorry to hear that man. That really sucks. I hope you had it insured full coverage wise.
BlackZenkiS14
06-16-2009, 01:04 AM
Nope. :( Just comprehensive.
To the insurance it was only worth 3500, so i figured with 21k into it, it didnt matter to have full coverage. :( I wish i would have.

Especially after fixing up my car, I got comfortable with entering/exiting turns faster than I should when raining. It happens, but better the car than you.

Ya having full coverage would have at least got you $3500 back possibly even more if showed them what S14's like yours were going for. Anyways I think you meant liability as comprehensive is full coverage.

do insurance companies ever cover things like an sr? Unless its a company that supports a modified vehicle, even with full coverage...you'd still be up shit creek.

but there will be another day soon when all that is in the past.

I was just discussing this today, it's not even worth the money to have full coverage on my car. After all of the money you dump into it, they're only going to cut you a check for 4000 bucks the most and maybe cut you some slack on mods if you can provide receipts or pictures.
in 2 years my insurance would have cost me as much as they would give me plug 500 bones.

i feel your pain man. My kouki was totaled last year by a douchebag in a lifted suburban. Atleast you're ok though. You can always build another car.
Fwiw, full coverage actually helps though when you have a kouki. You get the average going rate for your car. As clean as yours was, you would've gotten A LOT more than 3k. Trust me.... ;)

The sun'll come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom :2c: that tomorrow, there'll be sun! :blah:
I know what you feel. I had an Integra I was working on when it was stolen by some lazy low life that rather take what's not his then to feel the pride of having a sweet looking car you made with your own hard earned money and sweat. 8 or 9 years today I still feel excitement and some level of sadness when I see a nice looking JDM drive by. The sadness will stick around for some time, but like heavenskrow said, "there will be another day". My day came 8 or 9 years after losing my very first car and now I'm hoping to fix my Zenki a bit at a time. Look at things from a different point of view. You had an imagine on your mind and you were able to make it reality, and enjoyed it for some time. Now you can salvage parts and start a new project with the help from your old friend that wont be too far away.

Wow. That looks like a seriouse impact.
Bright side, everything that matters on the car is in tact. Strip that thing down to the bone, including the interior. Buy the barest bones shell, swap everything over. It will be like you never got in a wreck.

I'm speechless, damn that thing was straight. Get a poster size copy of that ninth picture listed of you in that drift, hang it in the shop, pay homage now and then and move on. Please don't take this the wrong way, but, F* that car. That car doesn't mean shit. You were not hurt and that means everything. Two years ago my dad cut his right hand off with a wood splitter, they put it back on but it's not the same. Can't tie his shoes, can't button his pants, has to start the car with his left hand and the list goes on. The big things have a way of putting other things in perspective, you could have slid "under" something and peeled your cap. While you are bummed about your car, the rest of us are delighted that it is "you" telling the story and not someone else telling the group that you won't be posting anymore. Piss on that car. Drink a few beers (not 20), take some deep breathes. Super glad to hear that you were not totaled. Be at peace, Max

Agree with so many others.
Glad it was the car instead of you.
Yes, it sucks losing a car you loved so much, but you move on.
My first car was totaled two years ago by some idiot taxi driver almost killing me in the process.
It sucked, but I moved onto another S-chassis that was just as clean as my first.
Now, I have two S-chassis. Both with low mileage, and both being what I would have made my first one look like.
Pick up a clean shell and transfer your parts over.
You'll feel the love all over again.

woooaaa buddy i didnt see this thread just ignore my pm on the other forum....
its like losing a part of yourself, sure its a car but if you have spend countless hours working on it, trying to make it run and every step of progress you make makes you super happy and you are proud of your car even if the others dont like it and then losing it like that its like a part of yourself just died

kyle like ive said on so many fourms. give it time, it will be ok. i was devastated when my dad destroyed my two tone but my bicycle helped with that alot and even tho im not suppose to be riding with a broken collar bone ill still go to the trails and park with you and call you a pansey.
we'll get you in another car, if you need to use the shop lmk. we can swap everything there, if need be.

No ABS. Never had it, dont need it. It would NOT have helped me at all in this situation.
Fuck abs. everyone says you sotp faster, that's bullshit. learn to control your brakes when your loosing control and people would see abs is shit. I know sometimes it's hard to let off the brakes when sliding off the road or drifting into something... gotta control that shit. not directed to you..but people who say abs is the greatest,
anyway the totally of the car fucking sucks, that's my fear for my build cars.

"There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down yeah
But I'm ready yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust yeah..."
build on man, make the new one better!

DO NOT LET THE INSURANCE TAKE YOUR CAR BEFORE YOU STRIP IT!

Insurance doesnt know, and they wont. I only had liability and comprehensive on it. (NOT Collision). So they wont be doing anything with the car at all. I own it 100%, dont owe a dime for it.

Sorry for the loss, and I'm especially sorry for all the shit you'll have to hear from your girlfriend (and any pain you naturally feel for endangering another person like that). Hopefully she'll be empathetic, instead of forever pissed/scared to ride with you like most girls would be.
Ya having full coverage would have at least got you $3500 back possibly even more if showed them what S14's like yours were going for. Anyways I think you meant liability as comprehensive is full coverage.
Liability = you doing damage to other people/property - state mandated, cheap on 240s
Comprehensive = theft/vandalism - more expensive, but if the car's stolen or "stolen", you get market value of the car (plus any additional coverage you pay for)
Collision = damage from other things not covered anywhere else to the car - very expensive, with very small payouts for old cars (unless you pay for additional coverage, with is astronomical)
I carry liability and comp with no additional coverage, same as the OP, but if the car was stolen, I wouldn't get back nearly what it's cost/worth.
Exactly - you're better off keeping the car to part it out, or transferring parts to a new chassis, and pocketing the money you'd spend on collision coverage.
Agree with so many others.
Glad it was the car instead of you.
