rb26 vq35 transmission question

Why would you bother? The RB25 transmission is very stout. Plus the speed sensor is still located on the trans which means wiring up the speedo is a snap.
On the VQ trans there is no speed sensor housing because G's and 350's all run the speed sensor off the differential.

Oh and yes you would have to cut and weld bellhousings or get make an adapter plate.

Oh and the gearing on the VQ transmission is setup for a 3:54 rear end . With 3:90 gears it spins em in the first three gears and has a a very short 1st.

With our 4:08's the 1st is almost useless thus making it a 5 speed transmission again for all intensive purposes.

The RB25 transmission on the other hand was geared to work with 4:11 rears which basically puts it right in the ballpark with our 4:08's.

Go RB25 transmission, less headache, less work, less hassle and totally strong.

From a strength perspective its close to a draw. As far as whats a better performer?
The better performer is the one that's easier to use, in the setup your trying to do. In this case that's a RB25 trans. In my case its a 350Z trans.

I also think your not trying hard enough in looking for a RB trans. They can be had and sometimes for good deals.

Even if you pay top dollar for the RB trans? By the time you spend the money and effort to make a VQ trans work, you will have wound up spending more.

VG30 (z32) trans and the RB25 trans are mostly identical inside, but have different bell housing and tail housings (and input and output shaft lengths are slightly different, somewhere in the area of 1/8"). RB26 doesn't apply because it has provisions for front axles.

No because once again you fall into the modification department. Which means
A: you have skills and are willing to take the time and spend the money.

B: you don't have skills nor the time and basically will wind up spending a fair amount of money to make it work.
which leads to
C: You might as well just buck up and buy a RB25 transmission and call it a day.

While your trying to save money, and wasting time you will actually wind up spending more money and time. Buy the RB25 trans and call it a day.
