I have my S13 Hatchback for about a year and I want to turbo my car now. I did suspension and brake already. My S13 is mainly for drifting, but I will drive it in the weekends too. So I want to keep my car as sleeperish/stockish as possible. Since this is my first turbo car and first time to do this, please let me know if you have any suggestions/tips.

My goal for this S13: I want to have around 250WHP with responsive acceleration. I am interested in good response and low-end torque for drifting. I also want it to be a sleeper, there is why I want to have a stock-looking dual exhaust. I also want to keep the cost as low as possible. I just want a typical good setup.

Reliability > Performance > Cost

My original budget is about $5000 to $6000. So I guess I need to either save money or find alternative solutions.

I will ask a welder to weld the hot pipe, and drill/weld the bung for turbo oil return on the oil pan. What other things that I might need from a shop?

And I will road tune this car with Nistune myself, and I still need to read a lot of thing. I know I will need help on this.

1) Do I have to remove EGR stuffs for turboing my car?
2) I want to keep power steering and AC. Do you think I will have fitment issue?
3) Have anybody try Cxracing KA24DE intercooler kit? Do you think it worth the price?
cxracing.com: Front Mount Turbo Intercooler Aluminum Piping Kit for 91 - 94 Nissan 240SX with KA24DE DOHC Engine (http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=KIT-S13-KA24DE-IC-BOV009&Category_Code=INCK)
4) I am new to turboing, so I might miss some little parts. Do you see any miscellaneous parts that I will need?
5) Any inexpensive place to order those parts or inexpensive way to accomplish my goal?
6) Any other suggestions/tips?

Thanks!

Your spending 6 grand and aiming for 250whp? I think your spending the money in the wrong places...

well i think renegade is right. i just pieced together my own turbo set up and it cam e to $700 and im 100% sure it can do more than 250 hp. if your spending 6 grand you should have a built bottom end at least. i dont see pistons, main bearings, rods on your list. i think you should purchase the necessary parts new and get the rest used. i saw a tuned enthalpy with 480cc injectors and a z23 maf on here for $500. check out the forsale ads

The 6k includes clutch, exhaust, etc.

Beside the cost (buying new vs old), do you see any problems with my setup?

Could you answer some of my original questions?

You forgot the oil feed setup for the turbo and the water lines since its a ball-bearing turbo.

For 6 grand, if you allocate your money correctly, you should be able to pull off a GT30R setup, with all supporting mods. If you spend money right you might even be able to pull off a built, low compression KA.

BTW. fuck those fans. I run flexalites and during drifting my car overheats to high hell if I don't back off after a bit. Check out Taurus fans (yes, thats right, a ford part). They pull air like hell and will keep it cooler.

There are also a ton of other setups that you could run for cheaper. If your not aiming for a lot of power, I would say screw an EWG setup. Since you are buying the turbo new anyway, why not just set the wastegate at like 7 psi and then run an MBC? You can most likely specify during ordering. I know you said you want EWG... but its really not necessary for your power goals and just money spent incorrectly.

Your setup will be fine without the profec, etc... thats money that could be spent elsewhere.

dont really see any problems with the kit. but if you really want to save some cash you just have to search for the best deal. the cxracing kit is a basic intercooler and everyone has their own opinion on it. i never used it. looks like decent quality and looks like the sell pretty good. and if you want to keep the ac an ps it just matters where you route ur piping.

1) Can someone show me how to run turbo oil lines, oil cooler, oil temp sensor, and oil pressure sensor?

I want to have a oil cooler similar to this one.

For 6k you can have more than 250hp. Head to ka-t.org and check out some examples.

With the 5 bolt design you can go internal wastegate. where you can't with the 4 bolt. quick question though. you know that the setup that you have listed is going to be far from sleeper. loud exhaust, loud bov, and a fmic.

Yes I checked out Ka-t.org extensively. I think the current setup is good for 250-300 whp, but my initial aim will be 250whp. The 6k covers the exhaust, clutch, little things, and shipping too.

Right now, I am thinking of using S15 Garrett GT28R with internal wastegate. This setup will be cheaper. I don't have to buy external wastegate and wastegate dump pipe, and do welding. At first, I want to use external wastegate because the risk of boost creep from the internal wastegate. But I am told that T28 turbo is so small that it will not be an issue. And I will wield the wastegate dump pipe to the downpipe for make it quiet. But with S15 GT28R, I don't have worry those things.

And for the exhaust, I need to use the test pipe for mounting the wideband. Another option is to mount the wideband in the downpipe and connect the downpipe to the cat. However, it is recommended to mount the wideband at least 18in downstream of the turbo because the heat will damage the wideband sensor. That is why I think mounting the wideband in test pipe is safer. Is there other quiet exhaust come into your mind?

I will recirculate the BOV to the intake, so it should not be that loud.

As for the FMIC, I don't really have any solution. I don't want small SMIC either. Maybe painting it black helps a little bit?

People can pull off 250hp with take off SR parts for around 1k.

Ebay mani $125
SR T25+elbow $100
Walbro $90 (ebay)
SR inj. $100
K&N+intake pipe $140 (ebay)
used SAFC2 $200 (ebay)
ebay FMIC+pipe $200 shipped
SR downpipe $30 (ebay)
varios BOV $100
Zmaf used $80 (ebay)
----------------
total $1,165

If you're paying $223 for a used Zmaf + plug you are getting ripped. Also, the price you have for the Apexi suction kit is high, Im seeing $257 shipped on ebay. OR...you could get a nice copy of that kit off ebay with a K&N filter for $140 shipped. 4"K&N Filter W/240SX S14/15 SR20DET Intake Pipe Adapter:eBay Motors (item 370225340472 end time Aug-04-09 16:36:51 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-K-N-Filter-W-240SX-S14-15-SR20DET-Intake-Pipe-Adapter_W0QQitemZ370225340472QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMo tors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item56332660 38&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12|39%3A1|72%3A1171)

I know you asked for the KA but with 6k you can go SR with mods and hit 250whp with money left over if you look around.

6k is an rb swap!

save lots of money buy buying some used parts find a used greddy turbo kit and just beef it up a lil :coold:
