While putting in my new oil pan with my welded bung one bolt in the front right corner broke and is stuck in the block. I put in oil in my motor today and it leaks only in that one spot. How can I take that out so I can put in a new bolt?
Thanks for any inquiries.
Some people suggested using an extractor set but said it snaps very easily, should I just ditch that idea?

drill it out with a reversable drill for taking broken bolts out

Drill it out or weld another bolt to it and wrench out that way.

I bought really small drill bits for it. If I drilled it straight through the middle would I be able to just crack it in half and it falls out?

if it broke off right you can probly walk it out with a punch and a hammer. thats what i do with broken bolts:) but if it cracked in half the threads are still in so it wont just fall out

If broke off in the way that none of it sticks out so I cant use vice grips or anything.
What did you do with the hammer?

Go to Sears and pick up some Tap out. You drill the middle of the broken stud, then you switch out the bit with the tap out. Tap out will drill into the stud in reverse and pull the stud out.

This is the best and easiest way to do it. It shouldn't be hard either because the oil pan bolts are softer.

I just went to sears and bought that and small extractor sets. If I drill a small hole into the center and then use a tap wrench with the extractor with the bolt come out easily?

I made a write up on how to fix broken bolts. Check this out and it could work pretty well if you have the oil pan off. I've never had any luck with those bolt extractors, actually broke the last one I used.

Just make sure you have the oil pan off and no metal shavings get in there.

Just make sure the drill bit you use is small...if you get something big, you could fuck up the threads in the block. You'll end up doubling your work cuz now youll have to re-tap/helicoil that shit too.

Dont get the screw extractors that are spiral shaped, they will snap at anything over 10lbs/ft.
Get the square ones if anything. However most of the time they are useless because the way the bolt snaps, its not flat so its impossible to drill even with a center punch.

Got the bolt out by drilling hole and then using an extractor. It seems to not leak anymore because I just dumped oil in it and only about a drop a minute which might be from the leak 10 minutes ago.
