Installation was pretty straight forward, granted I had a knack for crossthreading bolts this weekend. Cross threaded the coolant line into my block (yay!) and two of the three downpipe bolts (which is now leaking).
Couple points to consider when buying an HKS turbo.
The oil return flange into the turbo is the same size as a t28 NOT t25, apparently they are different. The flange for my t25 is too big. As of right now I have my t25 oil return line bolted on with one bolt instead of two. Unfortunatly it's already started to leak. I figure I'll give a couple different shops a call and see if I can find one from a t28.
Outlet pipes (to intercooler) and inlet (from mafs) are angled a little differently. This might cause problems if you have a one peice hot pipe but since I had the stock three peice one and I just manhandled everything to fit.
Now, for the review.
Keep in mind I'm running this turbo on stock fuel system:eek: I have the HKS adustable actuator so I'm running at .65 bar.
I've never seen a more acurate way of controlling boost! Never did the car spike once! I'm very impressed in the quality of that acuator kinda makes me wish I didn't spend 400+ on my AVC-R.
As of right now there is a noticable amount of lag, Can't give you any numbers right now as I'm still tuning the car. Plus I think that my exhaust leak has something to do with the increased lag.
As far as butt dyno goes....It's FOOKING incredible!:D At .65 bar the car feels much faster at WOT than my t-2slow at 1 bar. I can't wait to get my fuel system together so I can start running more boost. then things'll get fun:D
So as far as the GT2540 is concerned, I can't say whether I'm going to keep it or hock it. The only downside my setup is the increased lag. Now I knew there was going to be more lag to begin with but the spool up time I'm experiencing right now is just plain sad. .65 bar at upwards of 4 grand...I don't think so.
So today after work (if it stops raining!) I'm going to fix the exhaust leak and check for more boost leaks (already found one last night, car felt a Sh*T load stronger once I fixed it).
Wish me luck!
