you're also going to need the bumper extensions

Check out the link below for several pieces. The Front Lip is discontinued through Nissan so you may have to source a used one or maybe someone has a new one still sitting on the shelf somewhere.

Thank god I managed to come across an entire Kouki 180sx front end today(literally, everything including the lip).
The lip was the last thing I needed to finish my front end.
So, I bought an entire spare 180 front instead...just for the lip.
Haha.

no sir
pretty much the same
lip is just molded in (not sure if they took a mold with the weatherstripping under the lip or not which would make it protude a bit more)

that's how you cut a kouki bumper, you gotta leave the protruding edge on the plate mounting area
maybe just take a day and mold it a bit?

My license plate covers it pretty good.
I have a Group A vent like MrFairlady has in the last pic he posted.
I might cut out the rest of the license plate area and mold it into the bumper.

Z33dori
06-08-2009, 12:27 AM
okay... thanks.
yea i was think of putting those w/ the group A vent... then pictured it.. and it looked terrible. The group A vent is so wide. So those would only work with the OEM bumper.

Every time I see your car, I think "Damn, car is full of so many cool/rare parts, but it's SO many different colors. This guy needs to get his car painted..."
Haha.
After getting rid of what I don't need from the front end(fenders/hood/headlight assemblies etc), the complete Kouki front with lip/lights/extensions would cost me less than the lip itself as well.
Good deals are awesome.

CrimsonRockett
06-08-2009, 01:26 AM
That's true.
Sucks to see Nissan discontinue the lip.
I'm sure whatever used lips that are left out there are going to start fetching what they would go for NEW(which sucks, but what can you do).
Go with a custom color.
Mine is still going to be red, but it'll be a custom mix.

Naawwwwt Really.
Took care of everything but fitment.
Its Very NICE Construction don't get me wrong.Your car has to be Excellent fitment/setup Fenders and Headlights wise to get everything to line up good.
Mine Looks a tad better than it is.Going the Zip Tie Route only because of Ease of removal becauses its Uber low.I Mounted the STock (modified) center Support bracket to Hold it all up good on the headlight Mounts.Everything else I tried to use the factory stuff but Not worth Breaking the Bumper to use the other CRAZY brackets.
I think all in all it was $340 for the bumper and about $90 for the vent.ALOT Cheaper than Kouki bumper, brackets (2),Lights,side extensions & the lip.
If there were other options Readily avail: GT1,hot road then this is best of what we've got.
I Miss my whole OEM Setup but i would litterally DIE if I broke my kouki Lip!!!
Seen on the Break Ito Drift Tengouku video where he snaps his on his old Red 180sx.

replica's = - street cred
yeah,yeah,yeah well OEM = Discontinued now muwhahahahah:kiss: j/k
I really wanted that Hot road Vent and couldn't see me ruining a Kouki Bumper to put one in-Halfass-when the V/S has an Open Spot for it.
Only Replica part I couldn't use was the V/S Kouki Side's.They fit like DogMyit!
I bought a set over a yeah ago for my old white car, used, from a guy and sold them 1 week later.
I'll buy OEM Kouki Sides all day no matter what the price because they Fit like Butta!!Front bumper I can Make work.
Both sets of Replica Rear Valances Fit great.from 2 diff makers.
I even make my own brackets for them so the fit better actually.Just Fiberglassed in some "L" brackets to hold up Good. And 1/4 of the price.
$300+ for rear valances is: -Street Cred to me.thats more than the side skirts.
To Keep in line w/ this thread I guess - MORE KOUKI!!!!! (or type-X I guess, even though its not - hahahahah)

Does anyone know the difference between the RPS13 TYPE X FRONT BUMPER REINF. (as seen here: http://zilvia.net/f/advertiser-specials-sales/260228-nissanparts-cc-current-specials-upcoming-stock-update.html) and the stock reinf.?
I'd assume it has provisions for the extension brackets, and maybe some other brackets, but is that it?
For those with OEM aero, are you using this?
ixfxi
06-12-2009, 08:02 AM
yes, the above bumper support is the j-spec one
the one on your car is the us-spec one
the us-spec is heavier duty, the j-spec is light and flimsy. thank US crash regulations for the heavy duty bumper support. still havent been able to decide which i am putting (if any) on my car
If the only difference is the 'beefiness' then I guess I'll skip it. I'm probably going to mod my stock one for ducting anyway.
Thanks.

I've got the Modiride Rear Valances Now.
I had to make Brackets for them because unlike the Seibon ones I got from Pandagarage (better) - Seibon has Brackets - They still fit about the same.No Biggie.
THATS AWESOME They are Making F/G versions of the Lip and stuff.Looks like the only way to make it stay on the bumper is ol' Zip ties though.
Unlike the OEM Lip w/ the "Points" that go Through the bumper and have the "H" stays...Thats the Tightest Fit you can Get!
Only other Aero I'd rock is Koguchi Power/BN Sports or I really Wanted a IKEYA Forumla bumper & skirts (Discountinued) :(

i cant believe there is all this talk about a stupid factory front lip.
its just a lip, that happens to be more expensive than the bumper. even worse, the plastic studs break off when new, i cant imagine buying a used one because theyre probably all broken off and loose fitting.
i love my lip, i bought it new. i think it looks very good. i think the discussion ends there. now this thread has turned into posting pics of different lips... aftermarket lips... shitty fiberglass replica lips.
its embarrassing.

You don't have the correct bracket iirc.
I'm waiting on Ray to bring some more in to have it on my other Kouki bumper.
Without the correct bracket, your bumper sags a few mm.

its the reason why a lot of aftermarket bumpers don't fit for shit where the hood meets the bumper. A lot of people leave off the stock support pieces that go up front. Its the same with S15 conversions and part of why a lot look like shit.

You can just swap all the bumper retainer pieces from the stock s13 bumper over to the kouki bumper.
Some of the holes don't line up exactly but enough do to get it to sit properly. I just took all the peices off my pignose and swapped it over to the kouki bumper.

I have that Japanese bracket guy.
You know those 2 little "bracckets" kinda in front of the radiator that you bolt the bumper to? It is 2 bolts on each bracket up top? Right in front of the rad support...
Mine are old and the metal is ripping apart, so that's why it sags. Trust me.
I attempted to figure it out with a ziptie solution, but it didn't work.
I gave up.
If somebody wants to come and fix everything for me, please do.
I have no desire to do it myself.

He's Got something in there - You can see the 3 little flaps that sandwichs the Retainer to the Bumper.
I think he just needs to Install or Tighten the Bolts on The fender, thats under the Sharp Points of where it meets the Bumper.Hardest Spot to get to on that Fucking Thing!
I Modified my V/S Bumper to use that Center Support but it still sags a tad...though once the Zip tie Plan gets full effect soon - It'll be Butta or, good enough for a Racer!
You can see my Center support kinda:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/Mrfairlady/Race%20car%20build/IMG_0648.jpg
I just need my bumper Tightened up a tiny bit more so I can Clear my Takata Ramps.Makes Jacking it up MUCH eaiser.
I swear I wanna design a New Jack:
Basically taking like,a Kevlar Bag (size of like a Deflated Speed Bump type deal) and be able to Slide it under the car/frame rails so it Clears the AERO/Sideskirts w/o removing them and use a Compressor to Blow the Bag up.TADA!! "Bodyjack" gets it off the ground enough to get a DECENT Floor jack other than the Ghetto Nissan jack 1st.

sorry, no. none of that works. ALL of the bumper mounting hardware is completely different.
anyone who thinks you can somehow magically use the old shit and mix-and-match, forget it.. its a waste of time. just do the job right, spend the fuckin 130+ bucks and buy the proper fucking hardware.

I used Pictures of Kouki 180's to line mine up.
Got a box that was the same height as the Spoiler (put under the Spoiler to hold it up) and layed it up there to position the spoiler where I wanted it and then used Templates of the Feet that I'd made.
The Holes on the inside of the Trunk are the hardest part.being able to get to the Bolts.
You can Line the tips of the Spoiler up w/ the glass on the 1/4 windows.
The Base of the soiler gives you an idea of how it Curves w/ the hatch.
ive got like 3 different types of holes on my hatch. its fucking confusing.

My G-Grow valance matches the sideskirts better than the OE rear pieces.
It is not fully mounted in the pics so it is sagging.
Plus my QP and bumper are banged up so it's off some.

here is how i see things like valences, sideskirts and lips: dont show me shit unless its worth looking at. meaning, if the car and parts are not painted and 100% installed with no gaps - then its worth showing.
