I was checking out the leather seats in a 300zx, they look way more supportive then the s13 seats(91-94). But can 300zx seats and rails EASILY fit into my car?

Has anyone checked this out, is it cheaper to get aftermarket seats. I am only interested in seats which will fold. Function and fashion are the words of the day.

The 300zx the are heavy as ####, there like 75 pounds each. they might fit but i doubt it's a exact fit.

Look into the s14 seats. Bolt right in, and are (allegedly) much better than our s13 seats.

i've been looking into aftermarket seats, but the ones i want are 1200 at a local shop. i've seen em for 750 online but with shipping, its 150 more. maybe i should just change the pricetag. #### overpriced a$$hole

Yeah, I got that big nasty rip, too. I might be able to get some S14 seats, I hope I do.

If I were you guys, I'd just pay to have someone reupholster your factory S13 seats... IMO the S13 seats look WAY nicer than the S14 seats, and they are lightweight too... Also that way the front and back would match, and you could get ANY color you wanted, Any design, etc etc.... I just had mine done, it cost 500 bucks but the guy who does them really knows what he is doing, and they turned out beautifully, IMO....

If you wanna see pics go to:

The stock leather 1989 s13 seats look real nice, have em re-upholstered and the voilaa, you have racing seats, SPARCO eat your heart out....

Hey guys thanks a lot for the positive feedback.. it cost $508 for both the front seats and the rear to be reupholstered in really high quality stuff... And IMO they look better than cloth racing seats... And like I said before you can get em done in any color... Plus I really like the 'shape' of the S13 seat like I said...

If anyone lives in the Tampa/Clearwater area, I can give you guys the name and number of the guy who did it, just let me know.. I have NO reservations about reccomending him to anyone for anything upholstry related... He redid the entire interior of my parent's 1969 Oldsmobile Delta Royale '88 and lots of furniture for us too... He's consitantly done really good work for us.. I was breathless when I saw the seats Anyway, I was without my passenger and back seat for around 3 or 4 working days and without my car (to cover driver seat and reinstall all seats) for 1/2 a day...

If you don't live in the Tampa/Clearwater area, I suggest looking in the book for upholstry shops, try and find someone who has lots of samples of their work... I honestly thought $500 was HIGH, but when I saw the quality of the work he did, I changed my mind....

ALSO, BTW!!! If you are gonna change your seats, or reupholster them, or whatever, do yourself a favor and put in new carpet since the seats are gonna be out anyways.. I got some really high quality black carpet and put it in myself... It looks good but the old stuff woulda been WAY ugly compared to 'new' seats..

Job looks very well done. What material? I'll be looking at doing my seats sometime down the road, as well as new carpet. . . I think imma stick with cloth seats, though. Leather is spensive and I'd worry 'bout damaging it. Vinyl is just yucky to sit on. . .

hmm, I think he said it was something like marine grade naugahyde.... Like the stuff they use to make boat seats..?? It feels really nice to sit in and he added a tiny bit of padding in the seats, and they are much more comfy now... He had a really thick book of different materials / colors / textures... You can't see it in the pics but the white parts have a pearl like finish that looks really neat!

Could you give me the name of the guy that did those seats, so when I move back home I can look him up. Just click on the email icon on the top of my post, I would love to get some work done on my next car.

Hey BlueSix,

Thanks for the idea. But my problem with the s13 seats is not in appearance. I can stand the lack of support. I want to feel like the seat is actually grabing me, not letting me slosh around when taking corners.

Those seats you showed a pretty nice, but I still want the support.

I know how you feel... If you want to, there's a page on 240sx.org under the installs that illustrates how to make the seats hold you in a little better.. I never did it but you might wanna look into it..

Been there, done that. It does help.

For those who don't know, you remove the top spring supporting your back in the seat. You sink deeper into the seat and as a result get better lateral support. It helps, but I still want new seats.

what can you do with s14 seats?>. any one had any experience with those seats.. i want more support,, i go flying when i make tight turns.... well,, my car goes flying too,, i need some new suspension and wheels...

I would suggest 2 things...
1: Back your seat up a few clicks more than you usually do, put on your seatbelt and then move back to where you usually sit.. You'll be held in tighter by the belt..

2: Install a 4 point belt, this would bork really well..

Or get racing seats.

How hard was it to install the carpeting, BlueSix?

BlueSix
10-06-2001, 04:34 PM
Actually it was easier than I thought it would be.. It was 'kind of' molded to fit.. Nowhere near as perfect as stock is molded, but enough so that I could see how it should line up...

The most *important* thing is not to trim it too much.. I did this in the rear where it goes behind the plastic interior panel just behind the door sill... If you put your feet on the back carpet it would barely slip out from behind that piece... Fortunately some self-tapping screws hold it in now and fixed it nicely..

The *hardest* part was cutting the area for the E-brake and shifter... Not much room for error there... Just be careful and make sure before you cut.
I know nothing at all about installing carpet and it took me a full day but I was going slow, trying not to make a mistake...

If anyone is in the Tampa/Clearwater area, I'd be glad to help you install it if you like...

The 240sx floor mats at my local dealership come in tan and grey, that's it. I think that a non-nissan mat might be the easiest way to go. MOMO make$ $ome nice $tuff.
