I just got ARP studs today and was about to throw them in before I realised that ARP recommends to use the factory spec sequence but not factory torque. ARP recommend 70ft/lbs with their ARP lube [which I have] or 85 ft/lbs with 30w oil.
The factory sequence goes a little like this: [I forget the torque ratings right now]

Tighten to set amount, higher set amount, then again higher set amount.
Loosen all completly.
Tighten to set amount. Mark all with a sharpie facing front of engine.
Turn all 90 degress. Then turn all another 90 degrees so sharpie marks finally face the back of engine.

For the guys that used ARP studs, how did you incorporate the ARP ratings with the FSM guide? I tried calling ARP tonight but they were closed....
No second guessing replies please.

Thanks! :)

eh?

Don't worry about what the fsm says. Torque to what arp says.

ARP says to use fsm torque guide but their torque specs, so I am wondering if people who used studs still followed the fsm guide doing every step including the 180 degree turning of the bolts etc.

The Torque to XXº is for torque to yield bolts, you've got studs now so you don't want follow those directions. Just do the 3 step to the arp recommended TQ.

Thanks JVD, looks like I will go with 80 in 3-4 steps then.
