anyone hooked up at stereo on thier s14? I was wondering what point those Clarion Amp's provided and if i put an Aftermarket Deck in is it worth keeping those little amps? and what is the speaker setup for our cars? I know i'm going to have trouble putting my two 10's in the truck, but I can figure that out. TIA
-Mike
i've got a pioneer head unit runnin through the amps..... it sounds as good as an amplified set of speakers

I pulled out my s15 amps and saw a big improvement in my aftermarket speakers.

If you have an aftermarket deck, most likely it has a built in amplifier, when this is run through the lil' amps in our cars, it creates distortion, not only that but it will damage (even blow) to some extent the amplified outputs of your deck... I worked for 4 years in car stereo and saw this happen numerous times, so my best suggestion is that you bypass the factory amps, regardless if you still have the factory or aftermarket speakers.

thanks, i think i'll just wind up bypassing it, and letting the deck run the speakers. that was the setup i had in my old car and seemed to work well.

i've noticed that there's a lot of bgd noise since i went to a new deck. i've been meaning to remove the stock amps, but just need some time.

Where are they located? How do they look like? Did they only come in the 95-96 S14's?
I'm working on gettin to fit 2 10's right below the rear speakers. I got the measurements in, and I'll be building a template sometime this week. Measurements came ino 3 cu ft, the right size for 2 10's. Hopefully it'll fit, can't waste any more trunkspace with our kind of car.

how does the box fit? is it just a rectangle, or does it follow the lines of the trunk? can you post a pic from the back? and what kind of subs?
if ur asking about mine, its free-air so just a bord with two subs on it, and its flush mounted to the little peice of metal thats goes around that area

You should have no trouble at all getting 2 10's in the back of an s14!!! I custom built a box for my s13 thats holding 4 rockford 12" HE2's so if i can fit that i really hope you can fit the 10"s.

I have two 10's in my trunk, the box came with tweeters on either side and I just made it in there with about 1 inch on either side. If the price is right I'll consider selling them. I'll post the spec on the subs when I find them out.

what do free-air subs sound like? i can't imagine there being too much bass.

how much did that whole 2 8-inch sub set up run u? including mounting it n the subs themselves? it looks really nice by the way.
you would be shocked at the base those 8's put out especially firing straigt inside the cabin, it rocks, and it cost me $250 installed but retails is $350 i have sort of a connection with a place and they re-ran the amp wires for me and everything
