couldnt really find the same exact diameter for the cylinder i used to hold the pucks so i went to my local muffler shop and adjusted the 3in pipe i have lying around, no need for alot of RTV or w/e because it fits real snuggly. but i also hammered a few notches so that it lockes it, just to be on the safe side.

OVERALL: response time is way faster plus i have peak perfomance tranny mounts, OIL PAN sits a few inches below from its original position, but its not hitting the crossmember at all..

but it shakes the whole car like no tomorrow.. fuck it. like its a big ass vibrator, i think girls would like getting rides from it =D fuck it. its a 240...

have fun with yours!!!! =]

BTW: cost is about $40 and time for making one is less then 15-20 minutes.

TO THE MODS:

if i post this up in the wrong thread, please move it to wherever it is proper.. thanks..

CONS:
oil pan sits LOWER than subframe and traction stabilizer if you srape your lip on a daily basis, this is no good for you. the WHOLE CAR SHAKES like no tomorrow. oh and my car started acting funny, the oil light keeps blinking on and off. i think the ruggedness is messing with the oil pickup or sending unit.. on of them 2....

hockey puck mounts... FAIL! IMO...

how does the oil pan sit above or below the sway bar

if u painted it one color, u can get off with calling it "aftermarket solid mounts"

sacrificing the oil pan position is not worth it...get proper mounts.

^^^^^^^TRUE but some times you gots to do what you gots to do when your broke to make it happen. Thats funny Charlie321 has the same set up on his car and it works pretty good.lol

I dont understand why ya'll think hocky pucks are any differnt from solid mounts.
You might as well just get a soild block of aluminum and bolt it in

I've had both and i sensed no differnce, everything fucking rattled, bugged the shit out of me.

driveshaft angle?

05-29-2009, 01:02 PM
went to adams last nite, and the response is way better than i had before, car felt a little sturdy maybe because my old mounts was givin my motor ALOT of play when i shift weight, though i was scared hitting the curves suz my oil pan is a few inches away from the ground... ehhhhh driveshaft angle, no clue, but works like a champ!!!! =]

Nice, but IMO best mounts are new OEM mounts filled with urethane. I think they are just about right.

Make sure you check your tranny mount now, since it will probably be shot in less that 1k miles.

Agreed.

Especially with the STEEL SLEEVE that runs the ENTIRE height of the mount - that's basically a solid mount. The hockey pucks aren't doing anything except keeping the bolt aligned.

The fact that your oil pan position is compromised makes this a BAD idea.

Kudos on the Peak tranny mount though, that's a nice unit.

05-29-2009, 03:11 PM
^^doesnt even keep the bolt aligned

Im not even sure how you got away with 2. I did this a while back and the oil pan was all over my ps rack/lines, crossmember. Had to use 3 on each side for it to clear. Then i realized it was pretty ghetto and picked up some nismo mounts. lol

Bigsyke
05-29-2009, 03:49 PM
word, I used rubber spacers about the size of the pucks from ace to get the proper height, still it destroyed my peak performance mounts.

solid/urethane motor mounts are serious fucking business, trying to check my rear view mirror when at a stop is pointless. my hands always feel like I got a good massage because the wheel shakes it's balls off lol.

fail....get some legit parts on your car!
its because of shit like this that there are so many janky 240s on the street! i understand being on a budget but come on! its bad enough with all the knock off companies and cheap suspension brands around now.
thank you for adding to the downfall...

Chrischeezer
05-29-2009, 09:15 PM
maybe go back to 1 stock mount and one solid...
the vibration will be 100x less.

oh yeah... and Ultra Gray silicone is much stronger then that high heat orange stuff.
the high heat never gets hard

dude, here is my advice. register a website and set it up, see how many people buy this beautifully built product. if it sells then you know youre the shit... if it doesnt, well you know you suck cock n balls.

fucking shit, i cant believe you went through the trouble of doing this. i simply urethaned my OE mounts and felt that they were perfect, and thats ghetto. think about it: drill and fabricate sub-par hockey puck mounts OR..... 5-10 dollars worth of urethane and wait for it to dry.

yeah, ide say its a no brainer

trials and errors i guess.. everyone said its koo and shit. so fuck it, might as well try it...

well all i read about was this mount is solid yadidyyadi ya and that it'll lower the oil pan a few in. blah blah blah... no one actually wanted to say it sucks because maybe they'll get burned. but w/e. i was bold enough to try and put it into action and give this HOCKEY PUCK MOUNTS an "F-" and id give myself "A+" for effort.. lolx...

soo like... i know what you did wrong.

you decided not to measure the stock mount and just guess by using 2 hockey pucks.

i believe its like 2 and half or 3 mounts to be stock position and then i wouldnt really see the harm in it?

haha oh well

haha oh well

well not really ive searched and everyone who ran hockeypucks uses 2. so thats what i did, and i was aware of the oil pan being lower, but i wasnt aware it was that low... but yeah 2 1/2 might do the trick. but no way i hate the whole car shaking, it was cool at first.. but daily driving this is such a pain, specially on stop and go traffic... fawk!!!! :nono:

Hey everyone, I've come in to this thread to give you my personal experience with "Hockey Puck Motor Mounts". I was on a budget, got a nismo tranny mount and subframe collars. All was left to do was the motor mounts. Unfortunately, i was on a budget and only had $30 left. "Hey, why not hockey pucks?!", i said to my self. So i made them, the vibration at idle, i didn't mind. Lowered my oil pan and motor, lower center of gravity? Awesome. Throttle Response? Awesome.

Adam's Kart Track? Not Awesome. Flew into the Gravel Pit. So Sad.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/67/l_73e05ca0f8424abeb463ab5b1ddfcfe8.jpg

I'm gonna purchase some semi solid motor mounts. Hockey Pucks were fun while they lasted. My suggestion? Use 2 and a half pucks.

Conclusion: Hockey pucks will be removed due to the fact that the car has been heavily rusted and is at risk of shattering or exploding into a dust of cancer since the chassis may not be able to handle the solidness.

lol, exactly. Nothing that sacrifices oil pan position is a good choice.

On (truly) slammed cars, the oil pan is like that hole in the death star. Dropping your oil pan closer to the ground while maintaining the same ride height is as stupid as making that hole bigger.

Charlie, I am sorry but you using pucks, really, really?

Lame, buy the correct parts.

It spoiled your track day and more money in the end, so where is the savings at now?
