View Full Version : how to drain the trunk

i had this bottle of radiator fluid sitting in my trunk for a long time, and i had it tucked in my trunk to the right side (you know where the carpeting in the trunk ends and theres like a hole that dips into the actual bumper)

i guess something poked a hole into the container of radiator fluid and now i have all this fluid in my rear right side of my trunk/bumper (to the right of where the spare tire should be)

is there any way I can easily drain all this? its just dripping out of my rear bumper right now

lol

Yup.. That'll work. Another thing you can do is just pull out those rubber grommet things cuz those holes lead right to the floor. Good Luck

Yeah best bet and then use some sorta cleaner afterwards cause definitely gonna be greasy. I had same thing happen to me..but a lil over a half a QT of oil!

I used lots of paper towels..and cleaner. Turkey baser too.

i started getting some paper cups and scooped out 3 cups

by the way what are those two white flat plastic box looking things in that area of the trunk? (S14) they face the right side of the car and have slits running across

if its like the s13 hatches, they are breathers that allow trapped fumes to get out of the car. like exhaust fumes and such

ShanwoW! that shit haha... I dont know about S14s but S13s have this rubber bung that we can take out to drain any liquids out from the wheel well. And I think those plastic box on the sides are your vent/filter boxes to relieve the air in your car.

if you have a sunroof, then you can take the tube off the hole in the back and itll drain out. atleast in an s14 you can.

Well for future reference there is a drain plug on both sides. I know because of Tropical Storm Allison

Didn't get flooded, but I had a leak in my trunk because the seals couldn't keep out the massive amounts of rain.

drill a hole? WTF? you guys are nuts! thats why 80% of 240sx's around now are freakin buckets! Use a shop vac and then soak up the rest with chamois. You can spray some cleaner on a towel and wipe it down after.

I could've sworn that there are two rubber plugs in the bottom of S13 trunks that you can take off.

EDIT: Reread your post, nevermind. That won't solve it.

do not drill a hole. it will only be a way for moisture to get back in.

i cannot believe that there is a thread for how to clean up a spill. seriously. does your mother still wipe your ass?

Lol, when I spill stuff I take the grommets out and power wash the trunk.

Make sure you drill a hole in your tire first though.

Open and shut case Johnson, sprikle some crack on him, don't want to leave any questions...

There are drain plugs on both sides of the lower quarters. The rear mudflap has a screw that secures to the quarter, cars without them just have a plastic plug. Remove it. Drain. Shit is NOT complicated if you bother looking at it.

I was JUST about to post that.... I had a leak from my right tail light and that area literally filled up with water after it rained one day....

I was like wtf... shoved my hand in there, felt around... found the plug, pushed it out... and all the water was gone :)
