you may want to get (download) the FSM for your car and check the AC section. The mechanism that idles your car higher when the AC is turned on may not be working, thus the extra load on the engine stalls it. It prob needs a recharge also which is why it isnt blowing cold air (first check to make sure the clutch on the compressor is spinning though). You can take it to a competent AC shop and they should be able to fix it all for you if you dont want to F with it. I just had my AC done, its getting a bit too hot in FL aint it? lol

The idle up switch (not the technical term for it) isn't working most likely as stated. Another thing is the compresor could be locked up so when the clutch engages its like putting a brake on the crankshaft, killing the engine. You may want to convert your car to R134a since R12 is somewhere around $80 a can, and a can is only 12oz, not even a full pound!!! Shits like gold!!! But, being in Florida, you may want the better cooling of R12, its far superior then R134a in my opinion.

if you took off your alternator belt to get the a/c belt on,then maybe the alternator belt is not tight enough for the electrical load the a/c puts on it .it may force the electrical system to fight between the ecu and the a/c and the a/c wins ,puttin it into laymans terms .If you have acces to a battery tester with your cables attached your battery should put out about 12 volts not running and 14 or 15 volts running .if your ecu is not getting enough volts the car won`t run,but will still turn over and act like it should run.If that is n ot your problem maybe it`s like PACMAN said maybe it`s to do with your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE[IACV UNIT] it picks up on what the engine vaccum is doing and some eletrical divices and compensates for changes .on the iacv unit there is a part FICD SOLENOID VALVE it makes sure the rpms does not drop to low when the ac compresser kicks on ,which would cause the engine to go dead.I just bought 1 for my car ,i bought the ICAV as a complete unit only way theywould sell it at the parts houses around where i live .my car would go dead when i let off the gass and mashed in on the clutch. It was serious pain in the --- you have to take the whole intake off trust me,I tried not doing it and wound up doing it anyway.the part cost me 120 bucks ,but tok several hours to do it but then had an air pocket in cooling system,so unless your good at automechanics might be best to take it to automechanic shop.there could be other things but most likely those are the most likely ones.i`m a bodyman by trade but i`ve always been my own mechanic and work on other people rides mechanically on the side now
