just saw a sneak preview, pretty funny. more than i expected from a pg-13. very oldschool feel. if you like Sam Raimi, see it

this thread is also about sheltered fat chicks in movie theaters. why do they scream so much and sit behind me? it's like sitting in front of lou costello with a vag

Really doubt it's going to be even comparable to the gory, ultra-violent Evil Dead (Sam Raimi's earlier work).
I see no reason even to make a PG-13 horror flick.

that aside, looks to have potential as a good comedy.

Justin Long in a horror flick... :keke:

she's going to hell because her boyfriend is a mac.

edit: or should that be rephrased as: one thing PC's can do that mac's can't: have girlfriends that don't get dragged to hell.

of course it isn't. it's pg-13. there's plenty of homage though. eyeballs in mouths and shit.

and justin long IS movie poison. luckily he's barely in it.

i saw army of darkness when i was like 10 and thought it was the shit, until i was like 13 and for whatever reason walked out of Suncoast with evil dead 1 and 2 on vhs. i think they were in a sale bin or something. fucking gold.

also Dead Alive. but that has nothing to do with this

evil dead might not be the goriest of the gory, but it doesn't look pg-13 either.
had plently of fun decapitations and resourceful use of the chainsaw.

evil dead 1 was pretty creepy for it's day but cheesy by today's standards.
evil dead 2 was just a remake of evil dead 1 with more plausible special effects.
evil dead 3, aka 'army of darkness' was prob more of a pg-13 film iirc.

evil dead is well beyond pg-13. it IS gory, albeit comically so. but it has far too much splatter and tree rape to be pg-13

If you enjoyed 'Dead Alive', I'd recommend checking out 'Bad Taste'.
That was dir. Peter Jackson's (who later went to make 'lord of the rings') first zombie flick.
it's pretty crude and absurd, but the gore and humor are just as solid.

I think a lot of directors (incl. Raimi & Jackson) made some of their best work when they were young.
Guess you have to think about retirement sooner or later.

Looks pretty lame imo.

People in make up trying to scare me.

Reminds me of Knott's Scary Farm, except they actually do startle me sometimes.

Probably watch this movie when it comes out on DVD.

Otherwise, no.

I love horror movies. I just don't like watching them in theaters. I only see movies in theaters that the theater experience makes better. I'd rather watch a horror or comedy at home and save the cash.

I like watching horror movies with a group of drunk friends. Ends up being more of a comedy adventure.

i just saw this movie today and its rad.
sam raimi hit the nail on the head.
the scariest parts of the movie were the parts where i was giggling the most.
justin long has that geeky dumb-ass-ness that fits the part perfectly.
there are some good startling moments in it too.
it was totally worth $7.50

lol the mac guy... I hope he gets eaten by some creature from hell. I hate his commercials.

Im down to see it, I might take a hit of acid before though, to make it real interesting, at least for the people watching it besides me lol.

the last horror movie i saw in theaters completely blasted drunk was My Bloody Valentine (in 3d). we were pretty gone going in, picked up a bottle of Captain Morgan 100 proof and split it during the movie. my buddy spit all over the dude in front of him. TWICE. and we still watched the whole movie and didn't get beat up. good times (for us)

Just came back from seeing this.
It's very entertaining!
Lots of gross out parts, oral fetishisms, & campy humor (not unlike Raimi's earlier horror films).
You can tell he's poking fun at some things.

This isn't a serious horror film imo.
More like a comedy with scary themes.
I loved the ending.
Prob the best pop-corn film so far this year!
The editing in some scenes was pretty damn impressive

The main character (and bf) are kinda obnoxious, but I think that was the intended effect.
best to see it in the theater, but its not a bad rental either.

I still think Evil Dead 1 & 2 was Raimi's best work,
but I enjoyed it much more than 'Army of Darkness'

I suggest watching this sober.
also, do not watch at times when there are a lot kids around.

I'd give it a B+
