I just swapped in a 96 ka in my s13 and got a t25 turbo set up. When I start the car it smokes kind of alot. Its white and it floats uP about 15ft before it goes away. What could it be? I do have some exhaust least but that shouldnt matter that much. Also I got rid of some emmsions stuff. I am not sure if it is a head gasket or turbo seal even though the turbo is brand new. Anybody have any ideas??

Its probably from smearing your dirty mits all over the exhaust mani while you were swapping it in. Or I don't know if you painted anything on the motor. It will go away if you let it run for a while.

if the smoke floats to about 10ft and goes away, it might be the head gasket.
seriously, what kind of test have you done, such as; compression check, leak down test, visual inspection of internal components , etc.
if you turbo the engine you should of at least compression check to determine if the engine would be worth boosting.

^^ I agree check compression on all 4 cylinders and make sure its good before you even try and figure out your other problems

Yeah, cuz that would TOTALLY cause massive amounts of white smoke.
Did you witness the "new" motor run at all before you swapped it in? Somebody might've sold you a bad motor.
Are you using a China T25 by any chance?

thanks guys but i didnt do a compression test before but it seems to have good compression since it runs just fine. The guy I bought it from had it on his s14 that was a show car and he worked for a high end shop so I trusted him about it running fine. I dont know about the head gasket is there any ways to tell without tearing off the head?

compression and leak down test will help determine the issue at hand.
Start there and report back your findings, the more information you provide us the more we can help.

ok the smoke was oil burning from the turbo it was leaking through the manifold I don't know why? So I took off all the turbo stuff and left the engine stock then the smoke went away then came problem number 2 I drove the car down the street then I started hearing sqeaking noises from the tranny/under the car area so I thought it was the driveshaft hitting the exhaust but it's not it might be the tranny but do you guys have any ideas about the turbo oil or the sqeaking?
