hey

i was out driving pretty hard last night and all the sudden i am not able to shift into 3rd 4th 5th or reverse...

i have been through quite a few sr and ka trans and they have never gone out like this. i had not previous trouble with it like grinds or anything like that. is there something else i can check or do before i go and swap another one in? just seems weird that it did that out of nowhere.

any help would be great!

Do you have short shifter installed!? I've heard of cases (rare) that it gets misaligned somehow. It may also be a shift fork in which case you would be better off getting another tranny or rebuild ($$).

Can you get it into gear when there is no load (car off)?

will the shifter move into the position where the other gears should be, or is it locked out of them.

When my KA tranny detonated on me like that, my SPEC clutch was done. Same shit happend to me, I was driving on the freeway, 4th gear, all of a sudden it pops out, tried to put it back into 4th, nothing, went into 5th fine. Drove a couple more miles to get to an exit, got the stop sign, went into 1st, got stuck there, car stops. Kicked the shifter to get it out of gear to get it towed home.
