Hello Friends,
I havent posted much around here yet but i hope to start. I have been working on finishing up a sr20det swap. Its a red top sr20, the original harness was a mess so I ordered a fresh one re wired my self and ive done alot of wiring in my time. The ECU Number is 62 which I dont know if its correct or not but the prob is I have no Spark or injector pulse at the engine.
I just need a heads up on where to start. Im kind of overwhelmed with the jdm stuff so far but im no dumby haha
Any help would be great
Andy

Did you pull codes?

No not yet, I will have to look up how to do that on this one. Is a 62 ecu even an sr20det ecu?

yes it is a redtop ecu

Pull the CAS and spin the gear around to see if it makes the injectors pulse. But before you do that, find a fsm and make sure you feel confident putting the ignition timing back to the correct place.

sounds like the issue I had @ 1st.Check your Wiring near the headlight on the 2 plugs.
make sure its Correct.
I had no spark and come to find out there was a wire the the prev owner CHANGED to a diff color and It was one of the "un-Used ones" in the wiring.
Pull coil and Check for spark.
Try a Diff Ignitor.
62 you can Run Codes on - DO THAT 1st.It will tell you whats wrong.
Mines a damn E5/E6 ECU. No Light on that ECU to flash.

Thanks everyone, sorry about the delayed repsonse. I will try all of these out tonight and let everyone know how it turns out.

Cod 21 is what im getting...
Code 21 = "Ignition Signal"
Check wiring or Ignitor.Check for Spark but I think its wiring related
Also could be CAS related.

Where is a good place to begin checking?

try a new igniter if you getting that code. That is charistic of a bad igniter, or coil pack. Basically a signal isnt going all the way through somewhere.

Is there any way to test an ignitor if I dont have access to another one readily

I know of people that have checked by the instructions in the fsm and it did them no good. A bad ignitor tested the same as a good one.
you can see if your getting spark on all plugs.

Code 21 And no injector pulse or spark finally got a chance to check it out

with no spark or injector pulse that sounds like cas however you SHOULD have a code for that as well if its bad.

Would a ground issue make this kinda trouble?

It could. I dont think your ecu is reading your cas at all, and the only reason I can think of that your not having a code for it would be that a wire got disconnected when the car was shut off and your ecu has no idea your engine is even spinning when your trying to start the car. Either that or you somehow cleared the codes while your ecu is not able to read your cas.
Try diagnosing all of the related wiring to the cas.

Ive never had this running yet, also when I turn the ignition key off the door ajar and e brake light stays on no mater what

There is 1 wiring issue. You have some problem with where your engine harness meets your body harness.

This was like this with my sohc too though, when i was running the stanza ecu

Well all I know about that is you have that exact problem come up if you unplug your body harness from your engine harness.

I wonder if that would have anything to do with why I got a code 21 too?

Yes you need a good quality IR heat gun (to read heat)
The reason why the tops of the Ignitors have an opaque portion is so that you can check from ignitor to ignitor what the heat of the ignitor is
They should all be about the same (after the car is warmed up) if one of them is far off in temp it's probably bad.
This is another way to check them out - there are several

I need a pin out for the CAS sensor so I can ohm out the wires to see if its a wiring issue
any one got a process to diagnose the CAS sensor

Alright so I tested the injectors with noid lights tonight I have injector pulse and no spark.
Back to square one. If I have injector pulse that must rule out a CAS ? Right? let me know people

check your ignitor chip, especially its grounding source. Not your cas if you get injector pulse.
