wow.. i just installed my new speed bleeders... they rock!... it makes bleeding brakes soo much easier. so now i've got resurfaced OEM rotors(F&R) (w/ now more material left to resurface later), Kvr front pads, autozone rear pads, and valvoline synthetic dot 3/4 fluid.
I'm ordering ss lines from either Don @ pdm, or i saw them somewhere else for the same price(not as long to ship though)
and i need to get some new fluid.
heres my questions..?
1. need to get OEM black rotors([i]for future...ui would also like to know if they have them zinc coated or anyhting to protect rust[i])
2. I need to find out where to get a good fluid...(i.e. ford heavy duty, or motul or something like that)
3. what ss lines do u reccomend?... i know of pdm's.. what else
thanx
I got Motul DOT 5.1 fluid, f&r kvr pads and speed bleeders all around. Those guys at pdm-racing are awesome.

1) As your brakes wear, coatings will rub off.
2) There was a big mighty thread specifically on brake fluids. IIRC you should NOT combine dot 5 fluid with 3 or 4. This means a full rebuild of your brake system. Search for the thread, the folks adding there know a hell of a lot more than I do.
3) nfi
PDMs brake lines aren't bad (they're made by russell; same guys who make speedbleeders?) but fitment isn't the best. I'd go with Earl's lines. I'm not sure what else is out there... Projectsilvia have some, I think.
As for fluid, valvoline dot 4 will work just fine. I don't believe there's any real benefit for mostly street driven cars (even if they see a fair bit of track time) to run DOT5 fluid...
OEM blanks will do just fine. Don't worry about the rust, it's not like it'll eat through rotors or weaken them, it just kinda sits on the surface and doesn't look as pretty. But it's no problem, really.
Dot 5 does not equal dot 5.1, you can safely use dot 5.1 in your braking system.
Goodrich ss lines are another option, tho are $20 more than russels...$100 vs $80
I'm using russels ss lines from pdm and had no problems with fitment.
Autozone blank rotors (standard vented front solid rear) come with a warrenty, and will be fine for the daily driver/weekend racer. Special coatings are for 'bling' and not much else IMO...

Since you guys are speaking about this 300zx brake swap, I just got my front kit, and I was wondering if there was anyone on these forums that is willing to help me out on installing them. I got a good deal on this kit from Jeff240sx (thanks Jeff) and I cat wait to put these brakes in my car. I live in LA/Pasadena area, so if there is anyone in that area willing to help me, that will be so good. I have done a lot of research on the swap, but I dont have enough faith in myself to do it. I have never done anything to my car, and I want to learn and all, but I just dont want to mess up my first thing in trying to mod my car. So, if anyone is willing to help, and teach me, and help me put the brakes in and bleed them and all that, it will be very much appreciated. OH YA, and I do not have a single tool in my house. No jack, no wrenches, no nothing, so... I dont think it can be done in my garage. So I will be willing to drive over to the house of whoever can help me out. Thanks PEACE
