how do you work a manual boost controller

turned all the way open is stock boost, the more you tighten the more boost, is this correct,?????, or the other way around

All the way open should be full boost. The controller is hooked up in somewhere on the wastegate actuator hose. Its just a bleed valve that vents pressure into the air fooling the wastegate into thinking the turbo is boosting less than it actually is.

Think of it by the way the controller works:

There is a spring in there holding a ceramic or steel ball over a hole. Once that ball moves, the pressure is released through the other side, and the wastegate opens. The more spring pressure you have, the harder it is for the ball to move. Therefore, by adding more spring pressure, you allow more boost to be created before the wastegate opens.

So, if you loosen the screw all the way out that holds the ball and spring in place, you will effectively eliminate that system (putting you at stock boost). The tighter you make it, the more boost you will create.

email the company that made the boost controller, usually they'll tell you about how much turns it takes to do X amount of boost (e.g. one full turn of the screw is about 1 psi, etc.)
