they probably get them from Canada? idk
yeah shit trips me out ... i cant really find anything. i did read some shit about WA DOT after 25yrs you can import vehicles without needing to pass DOT regulations or emissions, i guess i could try to stay overseas for a total of 7rys then bring it back...

Get it from Canada or bring it in as a parts car...parts car is starting to get harder to do since NHTSA, DOT and Customs knows wussup.
so ship the motor in my house hold goods and try to ship the shell as a parts car ?

take the motor out.
ship the motor and chassis over.
trying to get it legal is not gonna work. at all.
not without lots and lots of money.
not really worth the effort to make it legal, imho.
unless of course you dont mind spending the $$$$ to do it right.
i just need to get it back .. i own it already, been driving the shit out of it, gonna be parking it to pull the engine and mod it .. im just curious on the process that way i have an idea on how to get it back when its time for me to head back to the states.

You shouldn't have any problems sending it on a flatbed from Canada, completely assembled. "for parts".

in canada the vehicle have to be 15 years of older to import them. We can't get s15's either. r32 gtr's are fairly common here. my friend has one, and its fucking faaaast

yeah just dont walk into any dark trailer's
there are many ways to legalize skylines in the states, you just have to to
1. think
2. act
3. drive your kit car

if your in the military there are programs where you can import your vehicle to the states.
or you can ask the DMV on laws for kit cars. (buying cars overseas and registering them as kit cars)

Something shady going on in those states that and florida seems to have lots of GTRs there that claim to be "legal"

Almost none of them are actually legal. I think motorex may have actually gotten the r-32's and r33's to where they could actually be legal, but there are going to be a lot of hoops that you will have to jump through. For sure you will have to add crashbars and whatnot in various places on the chasis. I heard what killed motorex is that they got lazy and stopped adding all the bracing and such that is necessary to make the cars legal. The ntsb or whatever found out and that was the end of it. Motorex had plenty of other problems, but I think that is what finally put them down.

^Motorex was only able to legalize the R33 GT-Rs. All the other Skyline gens and models they "legalized" weren't done properly. Forged paperwork and whatnot.

Yes, but the R32's and R33's that were legalized are still considered legal.

What killed motorex was forged paperwork and trying to pass off r32s and r34s as r33s (which was the only one that they got legally approved). I don't really get the appeal I love the skyline too but its not worth risking it, just put a rb25/26 in your 240 and call it a day.

Actually, they are getting RePo'd from what I understand.
Here is an interesting article about it: the Skyline GT-R wiki: 'MotoRex and the North American Skyline Fiasco" (http://skylinegt-r.wikidot.com/0-60mrex)

WA state is pretty lax about letting people register kit cars and that kind of stuff. That's how most of the people got them registered most likely.

if you get your dealers license you can legally drive it around for more info PM me I will give you all the details its not that hard the only part that is hard is you ether have to own a property and claim its your dealership assuming your going to go as a used care dealer. Or find a friend who will let you front that your selling cars from rented space.

all gt-r's were being seized if it is a r32, or r34 the gt-s. and gt-st models etc are ok. (somehow) all GT-r's beside the r33 model is suspect tho'.

Sucks for you guys, seems a big hassle to get these cars running... We're having some troubles now too in Quebec... last April 29th, gov put a hold on all RHD registrations (we're starting to see too many of them)... We're going to know what is going to happen with this in 6months... Lucky I got my rhd silvia before the 29th...

That dosent mean you can keep it. The gov can do what ever they want.
I'm also affected by this (180sx owner). Hope you are aware that we will have a "calm riot" at the gov's office in Quebec city on the 29 of juin.
For your GTR, I would sell it in japan, take the money and buy one from Canada. Or import it as a kit car. I dont know the laws/restrictions and stuff about kit cars, but it would suck to leave it over there if it all fails!
