I'm doing an SR swap (s13 blacktop) on my 92 hatchback, and I've noticed the pulley on the water block scrapes on the front of the engine. This happened with the OEM pulley it came with, as well as the aftermarket pulley kit I have. They both scrape in the same spot. I have also notice that it seems to be misaligned against the crank pulley. Some metal spacers, about 3/16", would bring it to the right place, but I don't know how safe that would be for the car. Can anyone help me out? Here's some pics that might help illustrate what I mean. Sorry they're kinda blurry, the macro sucks on my camera, but it should show where it's scraping.

a buddy of mine has a similar issue on his CA18 that he bought recently. we'll install a new water pump and see if that solves the problem. when we removed the clutch fan on the car we found out that the pulley and fan were only held on by 3 instead of 4 bolts, maybe that's where the problem originated from.
i wouldn't put in spacers, it's like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound. because if your pulley is hitting your engine, something else is wrong.

Let me know how that goes. As far as my water pump itself, it spins freely once the pulley is removed. It doesn't seem like there's any play in it either. I'd rather not replace it if I don't have to, but you gotta do what you gotta do I suppose.
