i have never had such a ridiculous experience with a company in all my years in the automotive industry.
here is the beginning of my story.
i contacted the JRautoshop via the sales email provided on their webpage. this is the original email i sent to them.
[copied and pasted form my email.]
hello, I'm an interested buyer seeking information about your s14 front clip for sale posted on jrautoparts. We specializing in JDM engine and front clips (http://www.jrautoparts.com) for 3000 dollars.
here are some questions.
1) what are your guarantees as to the condition, mileage, running status, damage, and reliability of the front clip and motor.
2) how was the front clip acquired, who is your source in japan.
3) what part of the vehicle was damaged?
4) is the front clip the exact same one as pictured, with the exact mileage of 64882?
5) is there any mods, and have there ever been mods on the car or motor?
6) why are no body panels included? where are they? destroyed?
7) is this a COMPLETE front clip? every single tap, zip tie, and bolt still intact? if not, whats missing?
8) where is the clip stored? outside, inside...
9) again, what guarantees do you give to buyers, if installed professionally? do you have a terms and agreements?
10) have all fluids been drained from the motor? does the motor leak in any place? any liquid at all, even water.
11) what is the condition of the turbo?
12) is there anything i should know before buying that is not posted on the web page? such as broken belts, rust, broken clamps, etc.
13) since i am out of state, up here in Washington, would you be willing to work a deal with me, or is your company firm on the price... (zip 98072)
14) is the electric climate control still in working condition (after hooked up)?
15) can more pictures be provided of the entire clip? so i can examine where the cuts were made, and better diagnose the damage?
theses questions should be sufficient enough to tell me weather or not the clip is an adequate candidate for my purchase. thank you for the time your putting into answering my questions.
hope to hear from you shortly.
================================================== ==========

the next day, i received two replies to the email:
[cut and pasted from my email inbox.]
email 1:
98 S14 front clip with 45km/h
(two atachments of picutes of the clip, one of motor, one of mileage.)
email 2:
short clip of the clip running, better than me tell you the motor is good. i don;t sale junk that don't start and run. call me at 16264436668 i will answer all your ???????????????
the video was 5 seconds long and just was a cell phone clip of the clip running, sound was poor quality as well. i dont know how well it was running to because i noticed that he didnt have the intercooler piping hooked up... but thats besides the point.
after the poorly written, extremely unprofessional emails, i proceeded to call him.
this is how the phone call went.
"he answers: HELLO?!" took me by surprise because i wasn't sure if i had the right number...
i said: "hi, is this..."
then i was cut off and he told me "hold on."
then i heard some yelling in the back ground, then nothing.
he came back and said: "hello?" like i was suppose to be saying things and was wasting his time.
i then again proceeded to say, "hi, im calling about the s14 front clip you..."
cut off again, he said "yeah yeah yeah, what about it?"
by then i was really starting to wonder whats going on.
i told him "my name is cameron, i sent you an email last night."
this is where it gets even stranger.
he said, angrly for some reason..." yes i read that F***ing S*** you sent me, what do you want to know i tell you everything in the email and all that S***."
at first i thought i misunderstood him, because he had a accent im not sure what kind.
i then proceeded to ask him a few questions, each question was met with curse words, and just absolutely rude comments.
soon i had had enough, when he said, "you gona by the F***ing clip or not?!" "i don't sell S*** that doesn't run, so what you want?"
so i told him, "actually, i don't think i would like to by from you... goodbye."
and that was that.
i wanted to write this to warn you. dont do business with them.
the mans name was: Weiming Liang
thanks for reading, good luck...:2c:

I personally made a review section for them awhile back, search it, and post up there.

Search under my screen name and it should come up.

They suck though

Edit: he actually told me the same thing "You going to buy or not?!?!" And I went in person. I walked out

Yea JR doesn't have the best customer service. I think it has some to do with the language barrier. I talked to him on the phone one time before I bought the long block and he does kinda rush you and seems busy all the time.

I actually had pretty good experience with them though. I bought two sr long blocks from him and both were good engines and decently clean. I also recommended my friend to him and he bought a long block from him also. He didn't have any problems either.

yea same experience with me. its the language barrier. when i bought my silvia front end(great price btw) he wouldnt make eye contact and would grunt alot in response to question. lol. on the phone though,,, forget about it. he did seem rude. but in person was fine. over all though i think its a good place with many parts to chose from. and to me at least he wasnt an asshole. seemed very respectful.

im actually planning to go pick up and sr20 redtop from them the price is good for a clip and since i live like 3 hours away i did call him and he did sound like he was bussy wich i understand, since he's running a buisness and has alot of people calling him and asking him the same question's.

Do you guys still recomend them for the sr20 clip?

I dont mind if he dosnt pay extra attention to me since i just want the clip and not his friendship.

I want to go there and
1.hear the engine
2.see the compression numbers
3.pay
4.drive away happy and satisfied on my purchase

I asked for a compression test, he didn't want to do it. I was pissed.

All he kept telling me was "my engine good! you buy first!"

Like i said though there's already a review on them!

ok i didnt know that ther was a review thread, im new to this fourm, came over from 240sx.org

so i understand if hes busy, but seriously,i only by parts this expensive when i feel good about it, and i didnt feel good lol.

cursing at me and stuff is an odd way to run a business IMO.

but hes still in business, so he must not do it to everyone.

just wanted to let ppl know incase they are looking to buy from them.
when things seem at all shady, i dont even bother, i just wait and eventuall the good stuff will appear.

he just lost 3k thats all.

I go to vinny aka cookie monster for parts alot.

he usually gives me and my friends good prices on whatever and usually calls us h0mos and queers and says fuck in every sentence but I get what I came for and didnt break the bank so I can care less!

dude, most of the questions you asked would be enough to drive me through the roof, and im not even an angry immigrant.

its a big purchase, and if you dont feel comfortable then dont buy from the guy. take heed to your own warnings and use your spidey sense...

personally, i got my clip from sr20store (marco vargas) because of his rep, simple as that. hes been in business long enough to know what hes doing and not make mistakes, and when he does make a mistake (because were all human) he does his best to assist.

buying a motor isnt science, dont expect everyone to answer these crazy questions. you sound like your looking for a immaculately USED virgin motor, which is a misnomer - furthermore, youre looking to deal and get it at a bargain.

back when i got my front clip, i personally inspected the clip myself. it looked good, i bought it... 3 large ones later, i was happy with my purchase and never had any problems. but i dont go expecting the importer to worry about things like turbo condition, it is what it is. its your duty to inspect these things, and when you buy used.. its a crapshot.

the way you make it sound, the front clip should be stored in a heated clean-room and then inspected by a lab technician.

i usually am a stickler for folks who run clean shops and sell top notch stuff, but when it comes to things like USED front clips you gotta be realistic.
