not a bad price... it is homemade... i wonder how good or reliable it is.... and how much for the kit and i buy my own intercooler, blowoff valve, and stuff...

That looks pretty cool. The most important part of course is that manifold. I still may also check to see about getting a shop up here to work on it for me, but it is good to know there is a "kit" put together now. Of course I am also looking at the rb20det or sr20det as well. I will consider all options before I make my decision.

why get a turbo for the sohc anyway? why not just turbo the dohc?

one weird thing about that page is he says first he got 100 HP to the wheels, stock.

because it would cost a lot of money to convert just for a little more horsepower and i've beaten every DOHC i've raced with my SOHC. which is why i'm selling my spare DOHC and putting it towards building up my SOHC.

HEY I AGREE WITH YOU "WHATEVERJAMES" I TOO HAVE SMOKED SOME DOHC 240SX'S. MAYBE I WILL JUST DO A TURBO INSTEAD OF THE SR20DET!

Somebody found the caps lock button

Those sohc engines are quite a potent little block depending on how they are modded or who is driving the thing. I do like the engine alot and I am considering building it up. Would look cool and also be different from most of the crowd....

By the way the 89-90 front end is so cool I like it better then the later s13 probably why I like the Bomex kit to.

i dont have money to switch to a DOHC engine from my SOHC and also it is harder to switch the SR20DET into the 89-90 body. i think if i had money i would turbo it and if my engine dies, i would just rebuild it with forged pistons and rods and up the turbo on the SOHC and have a killer 240sx

by the way.... can't i dream?

Hehe, definately. Actually I've got the same thoughts in mind... I'm either going to stick with the KA24E or throw a CA into it.

what i like about the SOHC (which is in NO way to say EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ONE!) but some parts are cheaper. headers, spark plug wires to name a few, and this SOHC turbo kit is only 3200, but there may or may not be a reason for that price...not sure. also i've heard you can put in a more aggressive cam than the DOHC cams engines can get. speaking of, cams are half the price. but the way i see it, both engines are slow any way you look at it, and it just takes time and money, and you won't be disapointed with any engine, KA24DE, KA24E, CA18DET, SR20DET RB20DET #### it's all nissan

It is true. The SOHC is already existing in the engine bay. Big time advantage in the build up no extra cost for having to initially buy a new engine then install it and prep it for mods to a bigger turbo. Which in total can run you easily 6000. Because some of that money can go elsewhere in my project. like system, bodykit, suspension parts ect...

10-18-2001, 10:57 PM
yeah i'd go with turbo'ing up my SOHC because the hassle with transplantin a DOHC and then turbo'ing it equals out to a lot of $$$$...and speakin of SR20Det's motors...i don't even want to look at the #### motor i don't even want one in my car...only because i live in Smog Damned California....#### how i really love that freakin motor...but it killed my hopes and dreams when i'd heard it won't past smog....so hey turbo'ing the SOHC is kool too unless it won't pass smog....shit...

anyone on the email list for that SOHC turbo website, i was and didn't even remember it i guess! got this mail.

Hello fellow 240sx owners,
HMP Motorsports is proud to announce that the KA24E manifold is now
ready for sale. After 5 months of testing the manifold is now ready. I
have had one on my car for 5 months now with no cracks or problems and my
header has been glowing red at times. The manifold is a equal lenght
tubular stlye header. It has 1.5" runners so it will flow plenty when you
upgrade to a larger turbo. The runners are made of 1/8" thick weld els to
ensure against cracking. We can flange the manifold for either a T3 or T4.
We can also work with you to make a custom external flange for either a
Deltagate or Racegate. For the opening sale we are doing a group buy. If I
can get 10 orders the price will be $335 per manifold. If I can get 20
orders $325 per manifold. The normal price for the manifold is $350. The
manifold comes uncoated and we do reccommend getting it either high temp
coated or use header wrap. The manifold comes with a lifetime warranty
against cracking. If it does crack just send it back and we can fix it for
no fee (you must pay shipping). We are also working on complete turbo kits.
As of now we have a non-intercooled kit ready to sell. It comes complete
ready to install. We can work with you to build a custom kit as well. We
are working on a intercooled kit now. It should be ready in about a month.
We are also in the process of making manifolds for other cars so if you have
freinds interested let me know we can work with them to make a manifold. On
a side not we also do custom paint work using House Of Kolor paint. They
are the premeir producer of custom paint. We can also do custom body work
and body kit installs. We are located in Southern P.A. if your interested
in the paint or body work.
Thanks for your time
Matt
HMP Motorsports

P.S.
if you have any questions feel free to ask

P.P.S
we have a dohc kit in the works this spring

just a question to anyone who knows about turbo manifolds, isn't glowing red = bad?

10-21-2001, 12:49 PM
That could be a good point. If something is glowing is that good or bad?

Glowing red sounds like they used thin metal on the headers, I also would normally say who cares because of the lifetime warantee. The problem I see is...who the #### are these people...will they be around long enough to actually fix there kits.

I am totally for the idea of turboing my engine and fact still is someone has done the R&D to come up with a turbo manifold. It would cost more if I had to absorb that into developing one and go through a speed shop to have it built up totally new from the ground up. I would definately like to see what comes of this or even the supercharger kit that unstable-hybrids is playing with. More power and on my original engine it all sounds so good....
