I don't post here too often, and I'm not even sure where I would begin to search for this, but I'm having an issue. (If its been posted already please just point me in the right direction, I'm not exactly in the mood to be flamed).

So I'm driving around today running some errands. I live in a small town so if I drove 80 miles I'd be really surprised. Anyway all is fine, until I stop at starbucks to grab a coffee; when I get in the car to go home, I make it about half a mile down the road and my car starts bucking (like a mechanical bull) and slowing down even if I floor it. So I get up to the next parking lot, park it shut it of for about 5 mins, start it back up and go. No sooner do I make it about another half mile does the same thing start up again except worse. The car will rev in neutral as high as you can push it, but if the clutch is engaged it will only rev between about 2.5-3k and its really choppy. It will drive fine below about 20mph as long as I'm riding the clutch (which is a really good workout when you're about 15 miles from home) and the fastest I could get it to go without shaking too bad is between 15-20 mph in third. This happened to me before about a year ago in Atlanta, and by the time it got on the tow truck and to a shop it was fine, and the car made it to north Florida before I saw any problems again.

I'm open to sugestions on possible problems, the car has recently had jsut about every sensor replaced, and six different mechanics could find nothing wrong with the motor after the Atlanta incident. The car is a '95 s14.

Def. sounds like a maf problem. And also sounds like the ecu was going into limp mode.

check all your sensors and for vacuum leaks

My initial thought was that the clutch was slipping; but wouldn't it do it all the time then? This is a problem that in the twoish years I've owned the car its only happened a max of maybe four times.

Try cleaning the maf and i would check for a vacum leak.

try and unplug your maf and see how it runs?

but along with the other 5486153468461 people it sounds like your maf. is it loose or moisture in the connection?

grab some alcohol and a q-tip and clean her out.

Thanks guys, thats the general consensus of everybody I've talked too (a loose connection, thowing a code, or dirty). I'll check it out in the morning, its a little dark now.

Just out of curiousity, have you put your ECU into Diagnostic Mode & checked for Trouble Codes?? See your Factory Service Manual for the procedure. If by chance your car is throwing a Code, (Or Multiple Codes), check the Grounding point on the driver's side of the motor directly above the Oxygen sensor. If your problem is NOT with your ECU or MAF, then chances are you have a short in the ground wire on your engine block. Nissan ran several ground wires to this point on the engine block. If one goes bad, then chances are it may affect the others. I had this problem on my 95 S14 years ago & it turns out my problem was due to a bad ground on the engine block.

Anyhow, hope this helps...
