This is my first bit of "major" repair on my baby. What do I all need to make this replacement of the transmission easy and relatively painless?
I figured I'd need the following:
- FSM
- Jack
- Jack Stands
- Some sorta tools
- Knowledge of oil needed in tranny
- Knowledge of clutch replacement/flywheel machining
Can someone elaborate for me? Right now I have the replacement transmission assembly, buying a clutch kit, and from what I understand, I need my flywheel machined. Do I need to do this? What does machining do?
With the jack stands, will they get the car high enough for me to drop the transmission?
What tools will I need to get the old tranny off and the new one on ideally?
Thanks guys. Its finally warm enough outside to start some work. No more riding the city bus. Whee!
