Ok so I finally got a chance to check the compression on my ka24e that's been sitting. So I warmed it up a little despite the horrible chugging. The compression on all the cylinders is between 120 and 130 which is obviously not 155 and on top of that cylinder 3 was smoking internally when I pulled out the spark plug, but it was sitting a while so I figured it was just a little gunk burn off. It doesn't spew out white smoke like I would expect it spews out black smoke. It won't rev past 3000 rpm either. I'm doing a total rebuild anyway just curious if anybody has any ideas by these symptoms what could be wrong with the engine internally. Or are these symptoms average of something stupid like a clogged cat?

did you have the throttle wide open when you did you compression test? if you don't have it wide open it usually read from 120-130. black smoke is fuel. if it has been sitting for a while, you might have a leaky injector and the puddle of fuel is burning off.
if it doesn't rev past 3000rpms, most likely it's your MAF

Yea that's what the dude who just called me said (bought 300zx brackets off of him). He said to ground the MAF connector to a different ground. I know it's not the MAF because I tried 3 of mine that I know at least one or two work. Does anyone know which color wire the ground is on the pigtail? That way I can patch it up. Thanks for all your help guys :)

bump - Which wire is the ground for the KA24E MAF can't seem to find it anywhere.
