Ok hooked up the lower engine harness and im getting power to dash/fuel pump injecters all that stuff. when i go to crank everything just dies and the starter clicks once. and thats it. Its an s14 with a s2 rb25det. harness was done proffessionally and im thinkin i might need a starter but before i fork over the cash for one i'd like to hear from anyone who had a similar problem??? thanks

Try jumping it.
If still no go then take starter to get tested
Check your battery and starter leads for corrosion.

well to start it i had to jump the battery cause it was almost dead, thought it might have been the battery so i took my trucks battery out and hooked it up and still the same problem, next thing i guess is to take the starter out and get it tested. damn i was hoping to start this thing today.

hello im new here and having the same problem. it just clicks and i live in buffalo and it sucks cause im driving it this winter. would road salt just being on the starter and wires cause this to happen? i have a rb25det series 2 so the starter isnt cheap if thats what i have to replace

well mine did the same thing and it turned out the brushes in the starter were bad so i rebuilt it using the brushes outta my spare KA24 starter.. works great now.. maybe you could do the same??

i have the same problem. thought it was my battery and grounds, but im now thinking its my starter since it gets stuck and grinds when i tested it. i just ordered a starter from napa thats from a datsun which was 80 bucks.

Could anybody tell the part number or the year for starter in the datsuns. I've been searching but nothing close. Any help would be cool. Bump this old thread
