my 97 240sx speedometer reads 120 (which all years do i believe) and i have no gov. when going down the interstate i slowly passed 120 up... then my needle hit the clock button and never cut out... has anyone ever been clocked passed 120 (IN A 240, not your friend's, mom's, cousin's, little brother's saleen)? Heh...

Do you have a auto? Cause I heard that only auto has no gov. Mine cut out at 118MPH, and I have a manual.

145+ mph ... only in a '99 Mustang GT with SVT headers, custom 3" exhaust pipes and 2 flowmaster dual-chamber mufflers and removed air box w/ a K&N cone filter.

120mph, then the speed gov kicked in, in my 95 s14. It's so easy to get there. I can't wait till I upgrade the ecu, and get a new speedometer.

do you lot all have imports or is it the law to restrict the cars like in Japan, seems like non of you guys go over 120mph, I've been 150 and it was scary, and it was still pushing hard, I've heard of people going to the trip meter
I've gone 112, then the there's a fuel cut-off, my speedo only goes to 115. I hope to change that with a JWT ECU and a new speedo. =)

I've gone around 112mph. The car starts to feel a bit unstable at that speed though... And the car was barely accelerating after that. This was at 6000+ ft altitude by the way.

I went 110mph or 190km/h when the governer kicked in. I was only at 5500rpm's with lots of legs left. That's the great benefit of the ecu upgrade.

I have a 200 mph speedo...just in case! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> anyway I droped down from 5th to third and gave her #### when he gave me a look....expecenced import tuners you know the look! and off we went I slamed forth and was redlining at 9500 (i have done 10000RPM many times and she seamed ok!) and I hit 154 or 155 and all #### broke loose, I was stupid and ignoring the glow of the huge shift light! and well along came 10500 RPM and kabluieagazooie! 9 grand down the drain! I threw a custom lightened forged piston rod through the side of the block.....heared it hit many things under my car and shot it out at the supra! opps sorry! anyways he stopped and was like oh shit! when I showed him my blown 4 banger he was amaized at how good it went...I beleve at this time I was crying! hehe almost! and I saw the piston rod in the middle of the interstate so I picked it up stupid me (it was still red!) and got a 2nd degree burn on my hand. anyways now its time for SR! yaaaaa! I think i will keep that piston rod forever just because. the second piston was the one that went and when I took the block apart I found all 253 peices of it......just think how hard it is to shatter cromolly!

did you have a custom billet crank??? Was the motor de-stroked?? because I have been told by engineers that the KA motor will fall apart above 7000 rpms without a custom crank and they are about $4000. I just dont believe you and I hate not believing anyone but it just doesnt make sense cuz the KA motor runs out of steam high in the revs, its a low rpm torque motor not a high revving hp motor. I will have to raise the bullshit flag here.

I'm not saying he's right or wrong, but the engine did fall apart. 10k is crazy and from the story, it didn't last long at that high. 10k may be insane, but it destroyed his engine completely, so it really isn't possible to rev the ka that high.
My experience (although it seems useless at this point):
I got my s14 up to about 115mph on the way home from the dealership, and it felt like it could have keep going, but it started to feel a little shaky (stock) and i didn't want to total it before I even got it home <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Well...he said he had taken it to 10K many times and it seemed ok. It would take alot of work just to get the KA to survive one trip to 10K. I'm just curious what he has/had done to the motor to make it last that long at that rpm.

anywho, I'd guestimate the fastest I've been in a 240sx is ~130 in my old auto '89 on some lonely Nevada highway. Can't tell for sure how quick it was 'cause the speedo stops way before that <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> 114 in my '92 5spd.

I Got a solid 113 out of mine in the deserts of Nevada. Loved every second of it too! I was stock so I hesitated to go faster but felt as if it was still possible. God I love this Car!!!!!!

First off how much HP do you have that makes it possible to pull 155 mph in 4th gear? What all do you have done to your engine, if you where smart enough to through all the possible mods on your car why aren't you smart enough to know not to rev the engine to 10,000 rpm's? There is no power there when you get that high in the rpm's anyway so it's pointless to rev that high in the first place. I'm sorry there are to many things wrong with your post.

ok first of all I didn't read all of the post afret mine because you all don't belive me thats Ok i have 3 witinesses my passenger and the supra! you the s-13 doesn't have a shift light but my 6 inch tach does! and yes the KA was totaly built...almost all jun parts which had to be installed at the plant...it was a bitch to send them my motor and it cost me 500 also. anyway here is the main list of operations, this was ment to be a NA KA I just liked the way it sounded! the motor was completely torn down and redone,
iorn sleves were put in to destroke the engine to a 2.2 litre, all the next parts I list are jun parts, Crankshaft custom lightened cromolly, 2.2 pistons with full seal rings, titanium retainers and high rev springs, high lift cams 264 both 11.5 lift, lightened and strengthened rods, strengthened valves, (came out of the detonation unharmed!) intake....head...and exhaust were all street ported and polished and got a 5 angle valve job,ummm got lost hold on!............ all parts got swain coatings to lower temp inside block and head...custom 2 3/4 inch exhaust random high flow cat weapon R racing cannon straight flow muffler, Injen CAI, bored out throttle body, new figh flow MAFS, Complete Nology ignition system, jun 550cc injectors, z32 fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, lightened alluminum drive shaft nismo rear end, stock tranny ( now feals the pain! ) car was droped with ebach sportlines, suspension tech sways front and rear, cusco front and rear strut bars, kyb agx ajustable shocks.... I think thas it? list is hard to remember,,, JUN alone charged my over 8k for the parts and work.
I will read the rest of the post now and see if I have any more questions to anwser!
and just so you guys in boudt know the engine took 10k RPM about 4 times! and them Kablooie! so no its not good for it!

oh ya I almost forgot that I have a JWT fully tuned ecu for all the upgrades, equilizes air/fuel mixtures gets rid of all limiters ( kind of wish I had them now! ) and freed up all the potenial of the NAKA. I also had the Engine completle balanced and blueprinted, at a shop up here, c&c machinery.

not to be picky or get on anyone's last nerve, but didn't you shorten the connecting rods to de-stroke it? I've never heard of anyone sleeving cylinders to "de-stroke" an engine? i'm not saying you're not tellin' the truth, cause it makes no diff to me, but gotta get ya on that one...LOL!

In my car the governer comes in at 125, it is a 93 auto with digital spedo and HUD. My sentra would cut out at 118, but would cruise at 115 no problem. At least on the 240 the govenor just keeps the car at that speed unlike with the sentra where it totally cut power until you let off then reapplied gas. My 240 redlines(6900) in fourth(without overdrive) at the speed limiter.
My dad's 59 Ford F350 tops out at 65 and is scarry as #### past 50. It's fun to drive though, four speed tranny with granny gear, it will pull a wheelie on pavement(dually.)

fastest i've gone in my car was 115. and today, i test drove a 2000 Z28 with 3.73 gears and an exhaust system and nitrous....top speed 120, man was i disapointed (speed governer). my best friend's Z hit close to 170 and was still going.

on a lighter side; i'm gonna find a 240SX with a blown engien or tranny or sumthin and drop a S13 kit into it (engine, turbo, trans, ecu, intercooler, blow off valve, 300Z fuel pump) what kinda times or speeds can i get droppin that in a 240?
it'll be gutted to reduce all weight too
oh and my top is 128 in my coug with stock ecu... so far

mmmm....10500rpm at 155mph...you got different gear ratios?
[(RPM)*(tire diameter)]/[(diff ratio)*(4th tranny gear ratio)*(336)]=MPH
[(10500)*(24)]/(4.08)*(1.00)*(336)]=183.8 MPH

155 mph...10k RPM.....can we see pictures of the cars engine and the aerodynamics??? c'mon the 240's strong point is in it's torque at low end so i don't see why u should shift so late..c'mon this ain't no V-tec bad boy..where u have to rev to redline...unless its a sr20det then maybe 10k is possible(not certain on that) so i'm going to agree that this guy is full of it....i believe u on the gettin to 155 but to do 10K.....that's kinda hard to believe...

I'm with BadMoJo. I'm not saying that he isn't exagerating a little, but I'm not saying that he's totally full of crap either. That's alot of money, time, and technology in one engine. Who really knows what it can do...
Also, my compliments to nissantuner, for responding how you did. Alot of people would have just told everyone to go F**K themselves, but you handled it calmly, and listed everything done to the engine.
And to everybody else, give people a chance before you tear them apart. After the complete mod list, peoples comments were less harsh, cause they realized he did have a completely built engine. Maybe he's exagerating, but what ever he did, it WAS obviously too much for the KA, because it blew up!
Everybody just relax a little, ask some questions first and talk about it, and critique after you get some answers...

BTW...I haven't flat out called him a liar. I just don't easily believe things that seem unreasonable/impractical. Maybe he did do all that (and his response was very mature). But man that's alot of money to just blow up. i'm not out to diss this fella..nice mods list, looks like a whole lot of shit has been done...but then again when u look at some of the real top tuners of the ka engine who have lots of $$$$ still they don't top out at 10k....and for it to hit 10k i'd be kinda scare of emission law already kickin in..if in calif. that car would fail smog so horribly it be banned..hehe..but then not everyone is from kali and have to suffer it's earth saving smog laws..but then again if it did then more power to you...by the way have u tested your 1/4?? i've seen supras going at least 140+ mph on the freeway and it ain't a nice scene it looks fucken TYTE but it looks like if it ran over a peice of paper it flipped...haha...

and I live im Maine (MDI) where they still to this day have no clue about Import tuning! so I can do whatever! butttttttt...I have 18 tickets as wee speek mostly exhaust tone tickets!and as of now I have no lisence opps!
I was taking a stop and go corner but I was trying to drift it insteed ....which i did and there was a cop waiting at the other end of the stop sign! opps got to go to court for Driving to Endanger..... ####!

And listen to this, he "de-stroked" his engine to 2.2L (the KA as we all know is 2.4L)??? this idiot got this info off a webpage of an SR buildup and is waisting or time here, don't listen to this dumbáss.

You can de-stroke a 2.4L to 2.2L, just like you can stroke a 1.8L to 2.0L. That's valid (if they make the parts necessary to destroke the KA).

I guess that could be called de-boring, and I see no benefits of that. De-stroking shortens the piston stroke so the engine can withstand higher rpm. De-boring would keep the same stroke, so you're stuck with the same rpm range but now you have less displacement, torque, and hp. mmmm...yet another reason to think he's full of crap.

That was some funny stuff. I may have bought it more if say he had a hybrid. Maybe a turbo that was like in a stage 4 tune or an SR or a VQ swap but not that bull. Remeber if you are going to post something make sure it is real. Because a parts list can be tracked back to the company that makes said parts and then we can ask how much and what it cost to ship asides prbably would cost more than 500 to ship your engine to japan.... think a little.
