I just got a letter saying the Home Owner's Association will be giving me a visit.

I was looking to clean all the oil stains from my driveway before I meet them on friday.

Any suggestions?

cheapest easiest way is kitty litter, we use it at my shop all the time.

leave it there let it soak it up and brush it off with a broom and repeat if necessary.

the thing is, the stains are already there

I use kitty litter as well.

but I have dried stains on the driveway.

Im going to try and cover what I can by parking cars on the driveway but there is still a small amount left.

I want to make it seem like I dont even touch cars and hope I dont get fined.

i got a way easier way! its cost a little but works great,
okay pour gasoline all over your driveway or wherever you got stains, it brings it right up and cleans it, set it on fire if you need to=]
try it on one spot with out the fire and on another with.
did this on my friends drive way worked like a charm

^^^i was going to post something similar to this

add some water to the stain, springkle bead style detergent (tide ect) then take a broom/brush, and scrub the hell out of it. Wash, rinse, repeat as necessary

For kitty litter, you arent just throwing it on and then letting it soak are you?

You should pour on stain, and then crush them into the ground until it turns into powder (just wear old boots and stomp) and then sweep. That should work. I did this many times before.

Degreaser + broom + hose = clean.

That's what works for me.

Some "industrial strength" degreaser I buy at Sam's Club.

Insanely strong.

even if the stains are old. kitty litter + old shoe = nice drive way again. What you want to do is use your shoe step on the kitty litter where the stain is and rub or twist your shoe to the stain, than sweep it off.... DONT USE WATER!!! it'll go to the ocean and thats messed up.

Buy some spraypaint that matches the color of your driveway.

Gasoline ftw. It's pretty annoying how powerful it is. Took all the paint off my garage floor :P

Gasoline eats through asphalt dumbasses.

Brake parts cleaner if its small...

Or detergent/water/hand scrub brush...

They self clean after 4 months of rain usually though.

It's fine as long as it's used in moderation.

Has anyone tried any of these suggestions yet? Please post before and after pics cuz I'm in the same crap hole mess. My garage floor is spotted and I've tried industrial strength degreaser, bleach, detergent, power washer, and a couple other oil/grease removers.

None of these completely removes the stain.

i just use any kind of degreaser or brake cleaner + a steel brush. like one of these.. then after im done brushing the oil or grease out you wipe it up. + the brush kinda sands the cement down. kinda like sand paper.. haha so if the stain isnt soaked too far in the cement it usually comes out first try.

Try and find some TSP(TRISODIUM PHOSPHATE). Phosphoric acid cleaners usually have oil emulsifiers in them. Some times called Grout cleaner. Add 1 cup to 1gal of water(add the acid to the water not the water to the acid).

If that doesn't work get some Muriatic acid AKA Hydrochloric acid. This will eat everything known. Will react with the calcium in the concrete so you will have to wash the concrete again after it dries to get the white dust off. This is a last resort cleaner.

With both methods make sure there are no cars near the treatment area and wear protective gear. Boots, mask(eyes and mouth protection) and gloves. More is you are prone to splashing. These are acids you can get burned badly if you get it on you. Have the hose ready.

yea Ive played with muriatic acid to remove paint and its intense.

Ill try what s14db said tomorrow and post pics if its legit.

I got it before as well when I wasn't.
I used to do all my swaps outside of my house and the asian neighbors filed reports saying I stole cars.... played with acid and chemicals, sold drugs out of my house, called some ecosystem thing and they fined me for having oil buckets outside, and they called city hall saying I had a un registered business outside of my house.

yeaaaaaaaa pretty fucking horrible...

I love neighbors =)

the irony of the situation

my neighbor filed the report to the HOA and they sent back a letter telling them they will have a inspection of my premises this friday.

the thing is she filled out the wrong adresses, I received the mail and her house is the one under " inspection "

so I want to make it look like I have nothing near my house at all.
I plan to put all my extra oem parts and fried tires outside their garage when the inspectors come and then when they talk with me.

I will tell them exactly how their son works on his honda boutside with all his buddies and spills oil everywhere and makes a commotion before I go to bed
