Ok Im kinda lost here right about now.. im planning on upgrading my stock turbo to a gt3071r or maybe even a 76.. Ive been looking for a decent turbo manifold, but there all top mount and over a grand. I want to stay side/bottom mount but i don't quite know what to do? has anyone used the stock manifold with a bigger turbo? and what would you have to modify to make it work? Intake piping? Or should i just go top mount? Ive been wanting to stay stock so i could keep my syko turbo elbow. Anyone have any ideas?

If you find an internally gated 3071 you can use your stock manifold but I wouldnt recommend internal wastegate on anything over a t2 turbo. I think I have seen a few guys on here weld a flange onto the stock manifold to switch to external wastegate. You would have to modify the hotpipe and intake most likely and possibly a new downpipe

Good luck finding a cheap bottom or sidemount manifold that wont crack on you within a month or two

eh?

Yes you can bolt a bigger turbo on to the stock manifold. Just use a spacer like a bare t3 flange to clear the compressor housing from hitting the manifold. I had a t3/t4e and used the flange as a spacer and was able to retain the original hot pipe. Obviously a new downpipe needs to be fabbed.
But hey you're a baller since you spent all that cash on a syko kit, you should buy a top mount manifold. ;)

LOL no ballerness here, i just bought the turbo elbow so i could use a ka/sr downpipe. And i wont be getting a cheap ebay manifold, i've gone down that road before and its not that fun. I'm wondering what to do here and what road i should go down without breaking my piggy bank.

I did a Group buy on nico a while back, we got a bad ass manifold from Australia for about $800us shipped and came with new studs and turbo gasket. If there's interest here I can do another GB.

This is a friend's shop. He makes good shit and it DOES NOT crack.

I also had a T04E on my stock manifold and it fit just fine. The stock log style manifold will give you quicker spool but you'll just loose a little bit of top end power but unless you got the .84 A/R housing you'll be loosing that anyway.

i have a T3/T04e on my stock manifold right now. i had to grind the manifold and turbo down a lil for it to clear a little better. it came with a turbo outlet (that i had to notch a little to clear steering shaft) and even has an internal wastegate.

my next setup i plan on doing is a 6boost manifold with a holeset HX35 most likely, but thats way down the road

haha can you say SSAUTOCHROME? Looks like Chinese junk to me.

Once again, I'm with eh? Get a 1/4" T3 spacer flange and a 3076R with an internal gate. A good manifold will run more than $900 shipped. I think that is what 6boost is approximately costing with the currency exchange these days.

For the power levels you're shooting for, the stock log manifold will work perfectly fine.

I was thinking OBX but that may be a stretch.
I would recommend that you look at the Lovefab manifold.
In any case, a larger turbo belongs on the top side.
It clears up alot of room for downpipe/wastegate/dump pipe.

And yes the above comment is quite correct that you will get what you pay for with a manifold.

Umm...NO

He has been having these made for several years now and has NEVER had one crack. They are 321H stainless steel and every one is fit tested before it leaves the shop. If one cracks it will be replaced for free.

You might as well just get a HKS or Tomei manifold if you believe that it has to be expensive to be good. RICER
