anyone watching qualifying? liking the new honda brawn/virgin car

Taniguchi_Is_#1
03-28-2009, 12:48 AM
^^ yes, and it's "brawn gp". it's a former honda and never was a virgin inc anything. the toyota powered cars look fast.

HyperTek
03-28-2009, 01:32 AM
virgin is one of the sponsors of the brawn gp car..

dam brawn gp owned the field.. Looks like is going to be Brawn GP vs Williams imo.. I wont give credit to redbull, vettel is vettel and he pulled his magic lol..

im saddened by mclarens performance.. They probably already decided not to take the first race seriously and are probably already working on revisions.

Taniguchi_Is_#1

i figured mclaren would be out in q3 (they looked pretty terrible), so i think they did well for themselves. didn't expect to see kaz nakajima out in q2, with the williams looking fast all weekend. oh well, it's still a crapshoot tomorrow, even if brawn are super fast. all we have to wait for is a lewis hamilton-style start from somebody and there will be front wings littered all over the front straight. i wonder what the fuel loads look like, though.

ross brawn must have a hard on right now or something.

HyperTek
03-29-2009, 01:51 AM
chyea my boy hamilton held it up good despite having a slow qualifying car, at least its reliable.. hopefully mclaren will pull some revisions in time for the next race.

JayDee M Rolly
03-29-2009, 01:56 AM
i think all the teams will revise their rear diffusers lol, especially with brawn gp's results.

It seems like the new rules for the cars aero has had a big effect on the whole field this year than past other years. This was a pretty brutal race, lots of contact between the cars.:naw:

HyperTek
03-29-2009, 02:08 AM
yeah, the drivers dont have much sense of where the front wing is, so they push em into other cars.

the next round is next weekend!!! gonna be interesting to see what revisions the rest of the field will try and do in short time.. probably wont see changes til the following races, would be risky to make drastic changes without enough testing

HyperTek
03-29-2009, 12:19 PM
wow! post race changes, toyota/truli got penalized for passing hamilton during the saftey car time, so Hamilton got bumped up to 3rd place.. dam what a lucky SOB! lol
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news/2009/03/29/trulli-penalty-promotes-hamilton-to-third/

and vettel penalized as well
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news/2009/03/29/vettel-to-carry-penalty-into-malaysia/
i guess when he continued to drive on the damage looked bad in his favor.
Vettel will start the Malaysian Grand Prix ten slots down from where he qualifies next weekend as a result of the initial incident with Kubica, and his Red Bull Racing team also picks up a fine of $50,000 for advising their driver to continue running, even though his right-front wheel was not in contact with the ground, slowing other drivers down as the safety car was circulating.

just finished watching it. that crash at the end between vettel and kubica was pretty crazy. it was also interesting that barrichello stated that he drove his car with a broken rear diffuser. scary stuff for the other teams it seems. congrats to brawn gp.

gyula hlavati
03-29-2009, 06:27 PM
Yeah good start for the Brawn Team.I'm so ready for the rest of season.

drift freaq
03-29-2009, 06:59 PM
Awesome race, watched it last night and then picked up the end again this afternoon.

This season is going to be exciting for the most part the rule changes worked out quite well. Expect more cars to be using rear diffusers for down force.

Only thing I can see being a potential problem, is the front wings between extending out so far and not being visible to the driver.

HyperTek
04-02-2009, 08:24 AM
lewis hamilton disqualified and truli back to 3rd
they basically lied somewhat when under questioning, and where as lewis told speedtv before all that something different than what he told the officials, so they caught on to that and investigated.

ha! that's funny, well that makes a 3-4 Toyota but then again there the diffuser controversy for brawn and Toyota

!Zar!
04-02-2009, 09:44 PM
Lewis getting DQed is BS.

I seriously doubt he was trying to keep something from them.

Why would he lie when the radio is available publicly?

Word of the day is, "semantics".

HyperTek
04-02-2009, 09:45 PM
Practice is on tonight on speed in a few hours for Malaysia..

Maybe a Mod can edit the title of this thread to Formula 1 2009 season

I do think the disqualification was unfair, just give Truli his place back and act like it never happened, *since it was the stewards who gave Hami the 3rd spot in the first place

Taniguchi_Is_#1
04-02-2009, 11:33 PM
i think the story from the FIA is that the stewards asked him straight out what happened, and he gave a shady answer. while it's true that the radio transmissions are public, i think the thing the FIA doesn't like is that the stewards probably didn't look at the radio transmissions because they took hamilton's word that he didn't/wansn't told to let trulli by and then proceeded to disqualify trulli, who didn't do anything wrong according to the rules (you can pass under yellow if it appears that the car in front has a problem, which the slowing of hamilton could be construed as). i dunno. the way this whole situation was handled was pretty poor, but what else do you expect from the FIA? if it's not one debacle, i.e. stepneygate, diffuser row, '08 belgian gp, etc, it's something else.

HyperTek
04-02-2009, 11:42 PM
yeah, well right after the race he told what happened to the media, and than when asked by the stewards him and the team boss said something else.

JayDee M Rolly

So far I don't like this season.

HyperTek
04-04-2009, 12:23 PM
well you gotta admit, the racing itself is spectacular this season. The after race stewards decisions and everyone crying wolf @ the brawn, toyota and williams diffusers is pretty wack.

BMW just protested against them this weekend and it was dismissed, yet april 14th i think will be when the FIA sits down to investigate the diffusers. Which is retarded imo cuz whatever results could affect Brawn GPs win.

But I guess the teams who where challenging those diffusers just want to avoid having to spend millions trying to come up with a similar diffuser in short time. I think Bob Varsha was saying that it would cost Mclaren about 30mil to come up with one or something

Freddy
04-04-2009, 05:48 PM
see there one thing i don't get with diffuser things is that how are you going to allow something now then later on , maybe, not allow it and remove points from that team?

HyperTek
04-04-2009, 05:52 PM
thats the crazy ass politics of F1!!! like hamilton and mclaren getting robbed by the stewards after the race has been finished and no warnings where said during the real time of the race..

that was a disappointment.

Ferrari made some big mistakes, first with qualifying and pulling in Massa during Q1 thinking "ok Massa your safe the field wont get any faster than what you pulled" so he ended up getting knocked out because everyone pulled faster times and he didnt go back out to try again. And than throwing Kimi out soo early on full wet tires before it even rained... When they first pulled him in for the switch, i thought "Oh that is sick watch it start raining instantly and they actually do good", but it didnt rain til later, and which his tires where already shot from doing dry laps.

dam they just wanna fuck over mclaren , infact they always wanna fuck over mclaren.. They tend to love seeing the top dogs get screwed.. they get off on it or something lol.

Right, McClaren are always persecuted without cause...

Rules are rules and should be enforced to such an extreme degree with so much money and prestige riding on the outcome of these ridiculously competitive races. Hamilton has made some pretty heinous mistakes last season and came out on top regardless. This last controversy seems like it stems from his over confident assumption that his seemingly inconsequential actions would be vindicated if there were to be any mistakes or violations. Last years McClaren would have have faired better, but not this year. Now they have to function at a different level competitively and can't afford to assume propriety or even fail to communicate proper driver procedure.
This is part of the reason savvy team principles and other race managers who can function on the fly and react properly to make sure the driver can do what they do best are so important; they're ultimately what separate successful teams from the simply fast ones.

good the legalized the diffusers.. I wonder how many millions$$$ will Mclaren spend this week to redesign lol

Probably around 35 mill.

So much money and time it will take to design makes you wonder if it's really worth it.

I mean there seems to be a way that Hamilton is screwed every race.

Next thing you know, they are going to penalize him for saying, "an" instead of , "a" during some official. statement.

Every race so far he's had to climb from the back of the pack, and every race he ends up screwed some how.

But on the other hand, Button has had luck fall into his hand quite well.

So far this season isn't that exciting.

Last year the opener was crazy, as well as the races that followed.

Oh well. We are only two races into the season so it's hard to speculate anything.

The whole kers thing to me is kind of ghetto.

HyperTek
04-15-2009, 08:12 PM
yeah! Hamilton has been holding up pretty well on his skills to work his way up and keep a consistent pace, The Mclaren just isnt a good low qualifying time car, but in race time it can keep up. sucks for Kovalainen who ends up being taken out in the first laps.

rain races are more exciting. it's not in a tropical setting, and the start time is not as stupid as in malaysia and australia, so there shouldn't be any issues with finishing the full race distance.

predictions for the race:

big crash in turn 1, one of the red bulls will not finish the first lap
kovalainen will retire after one lap
toyota is going to win
brawn gp will only get one driver on the podium

so do you guys think the domination of Brawn GP with so-so drivers *who usually are in the back of the field from prior seasons* is makign F1 borring? Everyone speculates their driver success is solely on the cars they are driving. But then, Redbull is a serious freaking contender now, while Toro Rosso seems to be the lil brother team which drivers start off there and than get promoted to RB.

Farewell to Sébastien Bourdais, hes getting the boot on the team.. he has had no luck.

Taniguchi_Is_#1

formula 1 is still boring because the cars still can't overtake. so much for sweeping changes that were supposed to save money and create better racing. all it did was force the teams to spend MORE money to regain the lost performance and now the cars look stupid and still can't pass. they need to bring back the v10's with no driver aids, make the front and rear wing 2 elements only and have a standard diffuser design.

also, bad luck for sebastien bourdais.... hopefully renault dump piquet and get themselves a french driver. bourdais couldn't be any worst, anyways, so why not?

Lewis ruined my race in less than seven seconds of the start.

Props to Webber. He did a marvelous job on the ring. Won podium with some breathing room after the pass through penalty.

Brawn is paying too much attention to the 2010 car while RedBull is making some strong progress.

Barracello... Nothing seems to ever go right with his car. Like he said, Button's car never has any issues, only his.

Rosberg is gaining some ground nicely. All the while nobody seems to be noticing.

Massa I think is the real driver. Doing so well with a car that is still off pace.

Bourdais is out... no comment for that one right now.

As for passing, the Brawn cars seem to work better in dirty air, as seen during this most recent race.
The KERS system does provide overtaking, but it's only on the straightaway which provides for a lackluster pass 8/10. I want to see passing the way it should be, during cornering.

supposibly a part of one of the Brawn cars

Update: Massa’s injuries have been confirmed as bone damage to his skull and concussion. He will require an operation and is in intensive care. I hope he makes a rapid and full recovery.

. Rubens Barrichello, striving to make the cut in his Brawn, was left unable to progress to Q3 after part of his suspension broke.

That failure had terrible implications for his countryman Felipe Massa. As the Ferrari driver arrived on the scene part of Barrichello’s suspension struck his crash helmet, and and Massa crashed hard into the barriers at turn four.

Massa’s injury was gory, but could have been horrific. The spring tore a gash in the side of his crash helmet, pulling the visor off the left side, leaving him with a bloodied face.

The session was delayed for 20 minutes while the Ferrari driver was taken to the circuit’s medical centre before being transferred to hospital via helicopter.

My goodness.

Failure from the back of Barrichello R.'s car. and it lost a spring.

Spring hit Massa.

Another precise sequence of events that led to it.

He seems ok.

I hope for the best in his recovery.

you know someone at renault is gonna get fired for alonso's wheel coming off.. i jus read that the team got suspended for the next race.

I think Brawn's engineering advantage has worn off since im sure the other teams where able to come up with their improvements with car development.

!Zar!
07-26-2009, 05:08 PM
Yeah, Alonso just has no luck when he seems to need it.

Problem with Brawn is, they didn't seem to keep advancing the car.

So while they were leading the front sitting on their high horse, the other teams were out using the race track like a test session and they kept pouring money into development.

Everything I thought would happen during this race did.

I wish this was the lotto.

This was sad to find out.
It was set to be the stuff of sporting legend: F-1 champion driver Michael Schumacher, who officially retired in 2006, back in the saddle of the Ferrari and its trademark red livery after regular driver Felipe Massa suffered serious head injuries at the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifications. But barely two weeks after announcing his comeback, "Schumi" said on Tuesday he wouldn't be able to go through with it, after failing to recover from neck pains.

Instead, Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer will take his place. Badoer's last race in a Formula One Grand Prix was in 1999, for the Minardi team, and during a race in Germany he famously broke down in tears after his car malfunctioned. He had just managed to get into fourth position.

Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemelo said he was "very unhappy" that Schumacher would not be racing and that the team had decided to give Badoer the chance to race after "so many years of hard work." He first joined in 1997.

Schumacher posted a message on his Web site Tuesday informing fans that he had told Ferrari of his decision to step down Monday night. "I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible," he said. "Much to my regret, it didn't work out." He blamed neck pains that had persisted since July 31, when he tested a 2007 racer at the Mugello circuit in Italy to prepare for his return.

Schumacher also referred to injuries sustained from his motorcycle crash in February as a recurring health issue. He said fractures in the head and neck area had turned out to be "still too severe," which explained why his neck couldn't withstand the "extreme stresses" of F-1 racing yet.

"I am disappointed to the core," said Schumacher. "All I can do now is to keep my fingers crossed for the whole team for the coming races."

Oh well.

I'm sure they are regretting not letting me drive for them.

HyperTek
08-24-2009, 02:37 PM
badoer is horrible, but i could expect hes probably not pushing due to his age, maybe he has a family and he doesnt wanna get hurt etc, or he just doesnt have the skill, or ferrari doesnt want him to kill any engines/trannys/chassis due to the limited restriction. But i figure they probably used him instead of pulling someone else in because of company secrets etc. He got passed in the pits!!! He moved over to let someone pass him while exiting the pit. and got penalized for crossing the white line while getting passed lol.

Hami had a great chance of winning, but for his 2nd pit, the crew didnt have the tires ready so they lost like 2 seconds.

I would love to see Rubens take the title this season away from Button, he seems like a stand up great guy, deserves a title for all these years , esp during the ferrari/schumacher era when he was always team ordered to be 2nd to schumi.

I think solid rumor is Alonso will go to ferrari next season, will be crazy, tho kimi and massa are contracted til end of 10 supposibly. Rumor that heiki might leave mclaren, button is solid at brawn. Who will fill alonso's spot at renualt?? speculation is kimi may go renault, but also what if he surprises everyone and heads back to mclaren, i read he left mclaren cuz he fell out with ron dennis, and ron aint head of mclaren f1 anymore so who knows.

HyperTek
08-24-2009, 10:20 PM
lol well due to the new testing restrictions you cant test a car during the week, only during the race weekend when everyone is on track can you test it, and he hasnt drove the car since it first developed, so he wasnt competing against anyone lol.

!Zar!
08-26-2009, 11:31 AM
Badoer hasn't been racing/driving, so to throw him in a formula 1 car to race is quite harsh.
He hasn't really been doing any other form of racing. Yes, he wasn't at pace and made a few mistakes, but I think he did well all things considering.

You can't really compare him to Alguersuari. Because Alguersuari had been racing and winning the formula 3 and world Renault series.

Badoer handled the car well. He just needs to work out his physical fitness as well as car skill.

The guy is already having a hard time with everything against him. Give him a break.

I mean, driving these things isn't easy...
EGUZJVY-sHo

Oh yeah, this vid doesn't show the map and brake profile changed that goes on corner to corner.
And then paying attention to the car behind you, and fighting for the car's position in front of you.
Shit is far from easy.

the first freaking lap of Spa!! dammm
K6hFwh_W1uA

ALL cause of some dam rookies!!
Rookie Grosjean should of backed off, he should have known that Button was up front and gonna brake to enter the corner, so it looks like Button cut him off and Grosjean tapped him, then Rookie Alguersuari looks like he went wide in that corner and took out hamilton.

Fisichella did a great job though sticking with Kimi, dam that Kers is untouchable, but that unexpected Force India car kept right up with it!

HOW THE HELL DID HAMILTON LOOSE IT ON THE LAST LAP? he rode the curb some but he should have known better.

congrats to Rubens, he seems like a stand up guy and a great winner when he wins, every race he wins is emotional for him, and hes just soo animated, kissing the camera and doin that funky celebration dance lol. I want to see him take the championship away from Button. Button was pretty much handed the title til this point.
