View Full Version : EGR Hanging?

I'm doing an ebay header install on a s14, and the EGR tube doesn't line up to the bung on the header. What would be the side effect (other than a CEL) if I left the two ends open and drove it? The pipe fits in the bung but no where near enough to thread in.
Any thoughts?

you would have a retarded exhaust leak and your car might run like crap from your egr leaking.

So there are no other side effects from the disconnected EGR tube?
No running too lean or too rich?
Thanks.

Vacuum leak would wreak havoc on the car. Massive exhaust leak would wreak havoc on your engine bay and your nostrils. Also, it would sound like a lawnmower (friend had his EGR JBweld patch job bust) and run like shit.
tl;dr - Close em up.
won't pass emissions if he closes them up though.
I had the same problem except mine was completely cut off. I had a friend weld one back on :D

Thanks guys. Don't know what I was thinking last night. I guess I was just looking for someone to tell me: "sure just leave it and you'll be fine."
Cause I was so pissed and sick of dealing with that damn car I just wanted it to be done with.
I'm going to get a tube bender and rebend the tube to make it fit.
This is just another perfect example of what to expect from buying eGay crap. Buy hey I'm poor right now so I do what I gotta do to keep up with my hobby.
Thanks guys. Peace.

Okay, quick question, can anyone tell me the diameter of the EGR tubing that goes from the header to the EGR?
An inch measurement would be great. I would measure mine but I'm at work and I need the size so I can order a bender.
Thanks.
