I have a CA18DET, mods include walboro 255, fmic, butterflies removed and an sr t25.
Searched here and nico but didn't really find any similar posts. Atleast none that I percieved as similar.
My engine runs at 6 lbs of boost max atm. I installed an mbc and it did nothing. I figured I just hooked it up backwards so I flipped it around...still nothing. It's not like any other mbc i've seen. Instead of ball and spring it's a spring and a tapered piece that I assume act's the same as the ball in a ball and spring type. After hooking it up the only difference I noticed is it seemed to boost more smoothly but still only to 6 lbs. Unhooked the vacuum source to the wastegate and just closed it off, engine actually ideled and ran smoother. I didn't let any boost happen until I was on the freeway in 5th gear and went very slowly. Boost climbed very well and maxed out at 15 lbs. I seriously don't need that much and the sr t25 max's out at 12 to 13 lbs as far as optimizing power iirc. All I really want out of it is 9 or 10 lbs max. Is it just a bumb mbc or is my wg not actually working correctly. Any help is much appreciated.

sounds like a busted wastegate actuator

Ya it's the actuator time for a new one. IMO get the HKS adjustable one.

I haven't really been able to find one...granted I have looked that hard but I can really only find external ones anywhere.
