I want to go to school for Diesel Mechanics but unfortunately there aren't any schools that offer it close to me. The closest thing is Marine Diesel Engine Systems so I was wanting to know if I could take this would translate to other field in diesel mechanics..as in would it all be the same thing? (working on fleets, mass transit, trains, etc)

It's all the same shit. Engines are engines, the only thing that changes are components and fuel.

i sold my car to a guy at school for diesel mechanic-ing.

he texted me bitching that the power steering pump had locked up and blah blah blah blah. i told him p/s pumps dont just lock up, and he said it was full of fluid and all.

he texted me an hour later saying his instructor told him it was locked up, and actually the belt has just loosened up.

im not so sure about diesel mechanics.

People specialize in one system and quickly forget how other shit works.. I'm a diesel mechanic in the Marine Corps and it's funny how many Marines know their way around an MTVR but can't fix shit on their own car.

QFT. My dad is has been a mechanic at the school district for over 25 years and they do work on Diesel buses, trucks, regular gasoline cars. He does all the work on his own cars, fuel injected, carb, and helps a lot on my car. Like Koopa said it's all the same just placed differently and different components.
