turn the yolk (where driveshaft hooks up) which way do side shafts turn?

opposite: open diff
same? now hold one side shaft, does the other turn ok? OPEN DIFF

turn the side shafts do they spin opposite directions? OPEN DIFF

does it say VISCIOUS LSD on the side? if not, open diff.

wow so some se models came with an open diff?...

yeah i always turn one wheel and watch if the other wheel goes the other way

yeah tye did. dont believe that if it had this this and that it had vlsd

i know a car w/ power windows/locks and sunroof and cd player (factory) s14 but has 4 lug from factory.

go figure. nissan was goofy.

well the conflicting info is pretty much...

spin it if the other turns the opposite direction then its an open diff.
but if its in gear then it should be tough to spin...
when i spin the yoke of the diff both spin...
its complicated and there is no way to tell by the #s on the diff...
i called nissan to find out...
the car i took it off of had white face gauges, 5 lugs, and spoiler...
i know this because i took the 5 lugs and the gauges from the car in a junkyard...

do this
spin it off driveshaft yolk
hold one shaft
if the other spins w/ no friction then its open diff

spin the side shaft BY ITSELF (spin one side)
which way does other side turn??
same direction or opposite?



a open diff isnt worth more then 40 bucks (and some would say not even that much) so please be sure you sell a VLSD If its really a vlsd

nissan wont know unless you have the car's vin #

im not tryin to sell an open diff as an lsd
im just tryin to say i cant figure out if it is or is not
wat iwas thinkin of doing was takin off the case and seeing if it is an lsd or not...
