On the 96 se auto, when its pined off the line, it slowly comes up to speed. Ive read that the it has a "luxury acceleration" feature. Will an ECU reprogram help or is it the l.s.d.. Its such a pain because the top end is great but its horrible off the line? Doesent this bother anyone else? Im so confused

I totally have the same problem. I have heard that new ecu will help but it won't offer the get up and go that we are lookin for without a turbo. I don't have this option so I think I am going to spend on a new ecu. When I get it I will let you know how it is.

A five-speed would help that one! We still have great cars. I'm really not sure how would it work with an ECU, have no experience with one. Sorry!

i agree, if exact cars, one a 5-speed n one an automatic were to race, the stick driver should have them off the line. i'm not sure about the ecu though, but i'd like to know the answer as well.

I know what one is, but, what do you mean by "or is it the l.s.d."

i believe he's talking about whether the ecu or lsd is the reason behind the 240sx taking off slow, but doing fine in the top end. like what he can do to improve it. if i'm wrong, then i'm a dumb @$$.

Gh606, are you saying your car gives somekind of bog at the start of accerlation, if so, then thats normal.
getting the ECUreprogrammed takes care of that little bog or hesatation (Sp?)
As for L.S.D. if anything, that will help you to accelerate.....

well, if he's bogging, an LSD won't do much. i'd think the ECU would do more. also you have to remember the gearing is different than our 5 speeds, i think an auto's 3rd gear is equivalent to the manual's 4th gear.

but he already has LSD........and you're correct about the gearing issue

Poor auto users. . . Lose out on the great benefit of that KA torque My old '89 auto s13 was insanely slow off the line, the 5spd '92 I have now is much MUCH snappier (that 15 hp helps out quite a bit as well). As everybody has said, an ECU upgrade will do more for you if you're bogged down at the start. If you're wheels are sliding, then you'd want a limited slip (LSD).

i already have a limited slip diferential, but thanks i think ill do some other upgrades before the ecu

Good thinking, JWT ECUs are tuned to modifications you have on your car. It'll take more advantage of a new intake, exhaust, and whatnot than the factory ECU programming

I'm sure someone mentioned it, an LSD will do nothing but help. For an auto, do they make torque converters for our cars?

i have the lsd!

It'll just give you better traction; it's a good thing. I wish I had one.

gh606. look in to getting a limited slip differential, better traction = better
hehe. sorry i just had to say it.
sorta off topic but..does anyone beside me not want LSD...i mean i don't have it but i don't want it...LSD is good for straight line acceleration only right?...and if u got LSD i heard you won't be able to slide into corners as easily??..oh wells..i don't think i would want that LSD..but then if i ever do get the chance to experience a car with one..i might change my mind.haha

lsd is not just for inline racing!!!you can corner much faster without the rearend coming around as much, and you can also accelerate faster coming out of a turn. of course it will require more power to drift. but all in all an lsd is a very good upgrade.

It also isn't as good on rain/snow all the time. (You'll have one wheel with no traction and one with.)

yeeep. an LSD would make your car safer when it rains or snows. i wouldn't have been stuck in the snow near as many times last year if i had an LSD. also i hear you can brake more agressively, in addition to cornering faster, and coming out of the turns faster.

muahahahahha the T/C's for our cars are $1000.00, i thought about it, mark checked it out for me and BAM we were both shocked! it's insanity :O and i have the slowness off da line.... it's a .2 second pause that nissan programmed in to their ecu for our car..... idiots....... its a sports car for a freakin reason..... derrrr....... freakin morons
i HATE my AUTO
