I had fucking enough.
Working for my family sucked.
being that your dad and fam are your boss's.
your co workers knowing your parents are bosses.
and having to take insults from clients.
THEY CAN TAKE THE 2000 i made a month and stick it up theirs
whenever i make a dumb mistake like. leaving the radio on or not putting the excact mileage on the gas receipt. co workers would so call "tell on" my family. and not only would i get shit as a son to dad deal, also as a boss to worker deal. coming home was a pain in the ass.
i worked way more then any asshole would.
i would go out my way and if a client had problems with their machine. i would go out on a saturday night at 11pm to fix it.
now i dont have worries, im having fun with life.
ill just be a spoil asshole and ask for allowence :boink:
i feel worry free.
now just a shitty job at the mall (if i can find one with todays economy)
and ill be good.
focusing on my highschool right now though :hs:
i quit when most people get laid off. but w.e
btw today was such a nice day at home everyone is happier this way

ic.. yeah that sucks about family owning businesses. they will have you work.. like tomarrow i have to fill in at my moms shop... she dont pay me though (i wouldnt ask for it), but its annoying because i started a job today and i was looking forward to having the weekend..
But yeah man, you couldnt have asked them for some time off? maybe ur weekends off and cut down ur hours?
OneForMe

i dont really get paid hourly.
its a commission job. Im a sales man (not like the guy that went on the kirby vaccum interview)
but i had my own van (chevy express work van) and distrubted our product to all the local mexican restaurants.)
and to be honest. i didnt like my job.
i rather work at a mall as a dummy behind a register.
interact with people.
(meet MILFS)
and chill like any other 18 year old out there

I know this feeling.
I've worked for my Dads company for almost 6 years! It was hell when I was still living at home.
I would get in shit as an employee, and as a son. I hated it.
Eventually, I decided that moving out would give us some much needed space. Now we have a better appreciation for each other, and our work/personal lives are much better.
$2000 a month is pretty good when you're 18. You'll miss having that after working a shit job for a few months

I've actually gone through something similar before.
Worked for my mom's company (and still do, albeit very much part-time).
In most cases, the parent employer finds it difficult to professionally consolidate their personal and professional relationship.
You either get parents that spoil their kids or those that treat them like crap.
Usually those that don't treat their kids well don't manage their personnel well either.
I think in situations where you work for family or friends,
you really need to sit down and talk about where to draw boundaries.
sounds like it would be implicit, but it really is not.
this is something where you need to get your family & yourself to agree to come to terms with rules and other stuff beforehand.
For example, (most obvious in OP's case), you need to tell them that work and personal affairs should always be kept separate.
At home, it personal time. You don't need to talk about work.
At work, everyone needs to keep professional demeanor.
You need to address your boss as your boss, not your father.
Your boss needs to treat you professionally as an employee.
You and your boss need to come in to terms as far as the definition of your job goes, its clear expectations, and it's limitations.
Put it in writing, and email him/her a copy.
If you act like you respect yourself and are reasonable, your superiors will take you more seriously.
If some things aren't clearly defined and mutually acknowledged, misunderstandings will surely occur.
Ultimately though, I think the job you have is good practice for working in the real world.
Asshole superiors are really more the rule than the exception.
If you can deal with family, that should prepare you somewhat for other obstacles.

well, you have to take into consideration he's still living at the parents house,

not judging anyone (hey id take advantage if i could too, lol),
but not exactly the same situation some of us are in.

yea, since the economys down and jobs are slim, alot of employers are taking advantage and making workplaces like slave camps, cause they know people wont quit. Its fucked up

Save it, so you can enjoy it later. You never know what will happen in the future and it would be really nice to take a vacation in between H.S. and college.

I was in the same situation. I was working for my parents construction company and constantly being "told on" whenever I made any small mistake. When you work for your parents, their other employees will always think your getting special treatment. Good money: yes, good environment: no.

You really need to suck it up. Life is hard and who wants to take s*** from anyone anyways? You need to learn to value your job and get over it. I get s*** from a lot of people, but why should I give a crap if they are retarded. I just ignore and carry on. And yes, working with fam is hard, but with 2k a month, go get some super duper ear plugs.

High school really doesn't require that much attention.
But yeah my parents don't suck and I know how to tell them when they are doing shit wrong.
YOu should have just not made so many mistakes, and told your dad to stop being a tool.
I don't understand why people have so much trouble telling their parents what they need to do.

yeah high school isn't difficult to study, but it is a time consuming endeavor.
If he's planning to be a cop, good chance he's not cramming to get into harvard either.
basically it's 7 hrs of your day, 5 days a week down the shitter.
dropping out of hs was one of the best decisions I made in my life.
wouldn't recommend that to the OP if he plans to be a police-man though.

Idk, I'm just basing that 7hr grind on my personal hs experience.
school for me started at 8, and ends at 3 ish, M-F.
If I had to work an additional 8 hr work shift on top of that, I know I would hate it.
then again this was many years ago.
i admit i have no idea what schedule hs kids these days work with.
it's hard to keep up with modern times.

OP - If you plan to be a cop, I doubt you need college for practical purposes. Might want to look into that. not much point in studying for something you don't need.
I thought college was a lot more fun. yeah, you had to study more. however, college was a lot more flexible. you could schedule your classes on Tue, Wed, Thur only, so you get 4-day weekends. you don't have to wake up early. you can also do just night classes, so that you can fit in a regular 9-5 day job. when I transferred to a 4-yr college, I could get by just attending the first day of class, midterms, & finals.
college gives you a lot more freedom than hs. hs is only good for shooting the shit, but even then you can do that pretty much anywhere else.

i work for my parents also and it can be a severe nightmare. i also still live at home with them, so when i get home, i go to my room and close the fucking door. :D
but my dad and i dont get along too well to begin with, and if we're together for more than like 4 hours it can get a little stressful. but i dont know of another place that will pay me what i make now, with hours that work around my school schedule. otherwise i'd work somewhere else without a doubt.

I've always felt that if you don't enjoy what you're doing, then don't do it. Who cares if the money is good. If you are miserable as a person then why the fuck are you wasting your time?
You should work to live, not live to work.
I haven't had a "regular" 9 to 5 in the past 2 years. I quit my job as a service valet at a bmw dealership and decided to do what I enjoyed, which is filming. Granted I'm still getting my foot in the door, but I make more now in a week than I did in 2 months as a service valet. But this wasn't until recently. For the first year 1/2 I was living off $100 every month, or sometimes every 2 months. It sucked because I never had money to do anything fun, or to even get me gas sometimes, but at the same time I was never stressed, and just genuinely a happier person. I'll never go back to a regular job again, ever.
FUCK being stressed out every day, and FUCK hating my job, that shit takes it's toll after a while.
I would have quit also if I was in the same position. I'd take being happy with little money over making good money and being stressed out any day.

The OP is spoiled and is a quitter.
The OP's parents obviously make a good amount of money to be able to pay their son so well.
Of course you're going to get in trouble with your parents worse than the other employees. Why? Because they want to see you succeed. They could care less about the other employees as long as they are doing their job.
Don't run away from your problems.
Be a man and face them.
I know for a fact that I've gone through worse shit for a job and made less than you.
Only difference is I wasn't a bitch and ran away from it.
If you need to, "focus" on high school, then you need help.
