i was thinking about doing something like this but cleaner and maybe with the stock air box still...

I know a lot of people who cut out the battery tray and run their intake down there on stock KA's as a sort of cold air intake. Not sure how much power gain you will see from it though.

Shorter air intakes make better top end on most cars. And when your hood is shut, it probably get's colder air on that side, being as it's not by the exhaust manifold.
Just theories.

I just did it on my sohc and it is nice, i can't really tell if it makes a difference but it cleans up the engine bay. Now i just have to get my e fans to work and clean up the wiring

Why should we look for it? People, including myself, have been doing short intake pipes for 15 years. Nothing new unless you're using some crazy metal no one's ever seen before.

If i happen to notice your thread about building this "custom short ram intake" chances are im not gonna open it....unless im drunk this weekend and need a good laugh/read
power gains are very very minimal from doin that, you wont feel a difference, just hear it.

Also you won't have an intake running on top of your radiator.
