HI I received my 1 piece drive shaft that about to put, but I was wondering are their any con's fro removing the dust boot that covers the drive shaft near the transmission. My greatest concern is removing the dust boot.

Dust boot on the driveshaft? You mean the rubber thing in between the two pieces of the stock DS? Thats not a dust boot, thats the carrier bearing, and you don't need it with a one piece DS.

Naw not that this. Is this on s13 or only s14...? http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/sxj6151/NICO/IMG_6811.jpg

it should just be unbolt the carrier, and unbolt the d/shaft from the diff and the dshaft should slide right out, then do the same in reverse to install....just no carrier needed with a one piece

its on every transmission.

actually , the CA18DET one is thebest. Its solid steel and when you tap it in its much harder to pull out.

SR ones seem to fall apart as they are two piece, and start rattling

they are to protech the output shaft and input on the tailshaft/driveshaft so no dust goes into the gearbox

S13 and S14 dust covers are different, the S14 is larger, rubber backed, and longer. However a lot of driveshafts still rub on it if they're the wrong length, IE using a non ABS with an ABS VLSD. Most people just remove it completely, as long as you don't drive through sand a lot and regularly clean your car, there's not a lot of debris that will make it up to the tail shaft. You just want to make sure the seal isn't leaking, otherwise whatever grit that does wind up under the car will stick to the fluid and wear the seal that much faster.
